information fluency (field hockey)

Field hockey was invented in 1872 by James Creighton and has been an Olympic event since 1908. In 1980 women’s field hockey was added to the Olympics.  Field hockey is not very much how people interpret it. All the equipment is different, they use a ball and not a puck, the goalie padding is completely different, the nets are bigger, and many more features are completely different from hockey. One Olympic athlete is Rachael Lynch. Rachael Lynch was born July 2, 1986, in Western Australia. She participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics but hasn’t participated since. During the Tokyo Olympics she couldn’t go to the Olympics, but she was still able to watch on TV. I chose to do my project on field hockey because my mom, my 2 brothers and I all play it. My mom has been playing since high school and has never stopped. She is adamant that we continue to play field hockey as she adores the sport and won’t let it go. She spoke to the people that run the tri-cities field hockey association to make a boys’ team. She eventually was able to in 2018. At first there was only one of my brothers, 2 of my friends from school, a couple other boys and I on the team. We didn’t have enough for a whole team, so we just played against some of the girls’ teams in the club. We finally got a full team and my brother, and I have been on it ever since. Altogether, I did my project on field hockey as it is one, if not my favorite, sports and most a very underrated sport.
