information fluency (field hockey)

Field hockey was invented in 1872 by James Creighton and has been an Olympic event since 1908. In 1980 women’s field hockey was added to the Olympics.  Field hockey is not very much how people interpret it. All the equipment is different, they use a ball and not a puck, the goalie padding is completely different, the nets are bigger, and many more features are completely different from hockey. One Olympic athlete is Rachael Lynch. Rachael Lynch was born July 2, 1986, in Western Australia. She participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics but hasn’t participated since. During the Tokyo Olympics she couldn’t go to the Olympics, but she was still able to watch on TV. I chose to do my project on field hockey because my mom, my 2 brothers and I all play it. My mom has been playing since high school and has never stopped. She is adamant that we continue to play field hockey as she adores the sport and won’t let it go. She spoke to the people that run the tri-cities field hockey association to make a boys’ team. She eventually was able to in 2018. At first there was only one of my brothers, 2 of my friends from school, a couple other boys and I on the team. We didn’t have enough for a whole team, so we just played against some of the girls’ teams in the club. We finally got a full team and my brother, and I have been on it ever since. Altogether, I did my project on field hockey as it is one, if not my favorite, sports and most a very underrated sport.

Making the world a better place

Have you ever been in class or at work and keep falling asleep? Well no need to worry now as I am striving to create a machine that lightly pokes you every couple minutes so that you will never doze of again. I am using 3D printing and i am also using the air around use as a power source to power my machine. Utilizing 3D printing has affected my understanding of how technology can change the world as you can create anything with it. 3D printing can make something super small, but can also make a house if you give it enough time.

An Assignment that I am proud of from semester one

During semester one I learned so much more than in the entirety of grade 8. It was very chaotic trying to switch from having so much free time to having homework every night. the project that I am the most proud of from last semester was probably one of my animations in adobe-premiere. I am proud of 2 of the animations I made during Information and communication technologies. One of them was an animation that changed a banana into an apple then into a cucumber. The second one was of a character that was walking across the street. The clouds were moving, the character had a walk cycle, the background was moving and the sun was animated. I put a lot of effort into it but I can’t find any of my files for the animation that works unless you have the software. Unlike the walking animation I do have a file for the banana-apple-cucumber  animation. This is my favorite project and the project that I am the most proud of because I am very bad at art and even though it is not the most artistic piece it is good in my standards, and from me that is one of the best I have ever done.

Break the fake part 2: Omicron subvariant BA.2 in BC

  1. this article claims that there is a new sub variant of Omicron in BC.

2. I don’t know who the Vancouver Suns are so I will do a search on them.

3. I will use Snopes.com to find if they have any information on the topic.

4. I couldn’t find any information on the new sub variant so I will see if there are any link on the article.

5. I will go to the video and see if its from a reliable source.

6. It’s from a reliable user (they have the blue check mark) so I know its reliable. Finally I will check to see if there are any other news articles on this topic

7. It’s from CTV news which is a very reliable news station so I know I can trust them.

Even though Snopes.com didn’t have any information on BA.2 there are many reliable news articles about it so i will have to say that this topic is TRUE.

The project that I am most proud of from the first half of this semester

The first half of this semester has been way different from last year. Its way more challenging and there is more homework, but during this time I am most proud of my walk cycle animation. This is the project that i am the most proud of because it took a while and in my opinion its looks pretty good considering my art skills. I prefer my work in this assignment over any of the other animation assignments is because there was way more parts in this project. In the other projects there were like 5 or so objects so it was pretty easy to animate, but in this project there was like 8 or so objects. That isn’t really that big of a difference but what is a big difference is that a bunch of the objects moved different ways and in different ways, for example in my project there is a sun and the rays of light that come out of it change shapes to make it look like there are many different ones coming out. There is also the walk cycle which we had to trace 8 different images of a character walking, and that took a bit of time to do because they were all a bit different sizes and I wanted it to look as best as possible.

guides for commenting on my blog

welcome to my blog, if you want to comment on my blog then please be respectful. Here are a couple guidelines that you can follow to help you make proper comments.

1. Be specific.

I think that its useful to be specific when commenting because you may comment something and someone could interpret it differently, then everyone gets confused and starts arguing or don’t get their answer.

2. Stay on topic.

I think that its important to stay on topic cause some people might get confused about why you commented. Another reason why its important to stay on topic is because if you talk about something completely random what’s the point on commenting?

3. Be nice.

I think that its important to be nice when commenting is because some people put a lot of effort on the topic that you are talking about and it could hurt their feelings. You could also start an argument or a fight by offending someone and I don’t think anyone wants to fight with someone if they don’t have to.

4. Keep it brief.

I think its important to keep your comments brief because people will get bored by reading a long comment and will probably not read the entire comment.
