Critical thinking: I can evaluate the credibility of sources of information
Through all of Anatomy and Physiology 12, I have learned how to use my critical thinking skills to determine whether a source is credible. Recently, during the Real World Situations project, I had to gather several sources, cite them in text, and in a reference list. While researching, I had to use my knowledge to decide whether or not I was going to trust the sources. I did this by reading over the information, scanning for peer reviews, identifying the website URL and finding an author and date published. As a final test, I would plug all of my sources into ‘Mybib’, which would determine the credibility of the sources and order them into APA format. A difficulty that I found through this process was determining where information comes from. If I found a non-credible source, I had to then search for the same information from a trusted source. This could take multiple searches or tries, but often ends up leading me to the root of the information.
