Communication is one core competence that I worked with and felt improvement throughout this semester. I feel like I worked on this core competence because I had numerous projects and work in class that required this skill. An example of this would be the presentations I did this semester: the technology innovation presentation in computer programming, the close to 1-hour presentation in history, and the Pecha-Kucha presentation in Physics just to name a few.
During the technology innovation presentation, which was the first presentation I had this semester, I wasn’t that well prepared and wasn’t very familiar with my topic. This led to me reading off of a script and rarely making eye contact the entire time I presented. During my history presentation, I felt a very big difference: I was very well prepared and knew my topic very well. The same went for my physics presentation. Through this, I felt a progressive development of my competence in communication.
Lastly, I think I can further my expertise in this competence by continuing to be prepared and practicing the content.
