Why you should play baseball (Final project submisssion)

The goal of creating this infographic is to get more people to go play baseball. I think that baseball is a very good sport that lot’s of people should go play. I just want to share my enjoyment of baseball with everyone. I used two sites to create my infographic, a website where I learned about all the health benefits of baseball and a site that helped me calculate the calories that you burn playing baseball. Using these sites gave me a better understanding of how websites can help the world. Without these sites I would have not been able to understand all the health benefits of playing baseball, sure I could assume some but it gave me a more concrete understanding of how baseball is beneficial health-wise.

Here is my infographic:

I chose this topic because baseball is my favorite sport and I think that everyone should play baseball. For my infographic I plan on using is a bar graph to show the differences between baseball and other sports. I plan to get my sources from organizations such as the MLB but if I can’t find any of that I will look online. I plan on analyzing this information in a bar graph. My project will be ready to hand in once my infographic shows all the information that I desire.

Climate Change and the Greenhouse Gas Effect

Before we start talking about climate change and the greenhouse gas effect we must first determine what is climate change and what is the greenhouse gas effect. Let’s start with climate change. Climate change is the sudden change in the climate of a ecosystem or world in which the temperature changes, the weather changes or a mix of both. Now let’s define what the greenhouse gas effect is. The greenhouse gas effect is the retention of heat in the earth’s atmosphere often resulting in warmer temperatures.  The most common greenhouse gas gases are water vapor and CO2.

Now that we’ve talked about the greenhouse gas effect and climate change we will now talk about how this is changing the world as we know it. Over the past 100 the global average temperature has increased 1.1 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, their is more CO2 and other pollutants that are entering our atmosphere which has accelerated the rate at which our earth warms. This has been a brief overview of what the greenhouse gas and climate change are and I hope that this has helped you.

Break the fake Pt 2

I was looking through the internet under the news section when I came across a article named The BMI is junk science. Now incase you don’t know what BMI is, it is a way of measuring body fat. It divides your height by your weight.

So I started to check the validity of the article because I know that this system is widely used. I started by putting the word hoax at the end of the name.

Then I found a article from New York Times which is a very reliable news source.

The article concluded that BMI has become unreliable for a multitude of reasons because it doesn’t factor in muscle mass. But as I continued to look I check if Finace.Yahoo was a reliable news source.

I learned that Finance.Yahoo is somewhat reliable news source for finance information. It seems to me like the contents of the article is accurate, but I’m confused about the fact that the article is under a finance part of Yahoo not the science part a Yahoo.

In conclusion, the contents of this article are true.

Take your kid to work day

For take your kid to work day I went with my parents to their lab up at SFU. I ran a gel experiment where I created a solution with the thickness of jelly. Then I put DNA into the gel solution. Using the gel you can measure the size of the DNA by how far the DNA moved in the solution. After that I look at microscopic worms under the microscope then moved them from one plate to the next. And I did it exactly like how you would have thought, grabbed a small metal wire with a flat bottom and literally scooped them off of the plate. Then I went down to one of the high rez microscopes where I got some cool images.

In the afternoon my dad and I started a yeast culture where we took some yeast of a preexisting plate and using a toothpick put them onto a new plate.

I enjoyed doing all the experiments and my day was really fun and exciting. I find that I would be encouraged out of bed each day to complete the experiments and go to the lab because it was very fun.

Inside the lab you could smell a very chemically scent, but when my mom and I brought in some worms, some bacteria had been growing in there and they smelled putrid. Also, you could see vials, tubes and plates of worms all over the place. You could also hear a fan going that was being used for one of the equipment’s. You couldn’t feel a lot because almost all of microbiology is on what you see plus, there are some chemicals that you probably shouldn’t touch, least you want to dye your DNA blue. (Probably not a great idea.)

Here is the yeast culture. The one on the bottom left is the one that we started that day and the other ones are ones that we took yeast from.

Guide for commenting on my blog

Thank you for reading through my blog. Here are some guidelines for commenting on my work. I hope that we might be able to have a friendly chat or discussion if you use these guidelines.

1. Start by sayings something relevant.

Saying something relevant to my blog and its content is quite important. I find that my blog is going to be more professional than something like iMessage or discord. My blog is more a place to discuss the work that I have done through the year.

2. Leave genuine comments

If you are interested in the work that I have done then leave a comment on it but, if you don’t really care about it I would rather not have a discussion about it due to the fact that you will not seem interested. I have no interest in talking about something that doesn’t engage both of us in a meaningful talk.

3. Do not self promote

I feel like this one should be somewhat obvious, but my blog should not be a place where you try to draw attention to yourself. If you visit my blog you probably want to learn about me and not some stranger online.

4. Be you

If I ever talk to you I want to talk you, not someone who you are pretending to be. Be yourself, nobody is here to judge you on somebody else’s blog. People would rather talk to who you really are rather than how you try to act.

Example: “Hey Wesley, I really enjoyed reading about events that happened on your birthday. Would it be possible for you to go more in depth about that professional female baseball player?”
