Core Competency

In the past, I have had a hard time with creative thinking in my projects and assignments. Many of my projects lacked detail. However, I am now making a conscious effort to think more creatively. My new mindset has not only made me a more successful student, but it has also transformed how I approach assignments. Moving forward, I plan to further hone my creative thinking skills and refine them to produce even better work.

One of my strengths is critical thinking and problem-solving. In science this year, I’ve faced numerous complex questions across various units that have needed problem-solving. I’ve been able to analyze these challenges critically and find solutions. I recognize that there’s still room for improvement in this area, and I believe I can enhance my critical thinking by remaining open to others’ perspectives and ideas.

Finally, my social responsibility has greatly improved. In previous years, I would have considered this a weakness, but now I am more focused in class and engage in less distracting conversations. I now focus on making efforts to talk to my friends less during lessons and to prioritize listening and understanding during class discussions.

Overall these 3 skills have been keys to my success this year and I plan to improve on all of them for the future in order to become a successful student.

Socail reponsibility

In General Trades I built a doghouse with a group, which was an excellent example of social responsibility because there was a lot going on and we need to work together very well and stay safe and organized. To make the doghouse we had to cut word, hammer pieces together and add electrical to it. It can be very dangers and everyone in the group had to show excellent social responsibility to keep a safe environment. I paid attention to learn how to use all the tools effectively. I have grown so much in the area by staying focused and not goofing around. I also didn’t talk as much in the class which normally will get me in trouble. I demonstrated safe use of the tools and followed the correct process to create a mint doghouse. It Foods class I have also showed good social responsibility by using the kitchen supplies correctly and safely. We have learned cutting skills with knifes and how to use ovens. I also had to make a meal at home for a project with no help. It took an immense amount of social responsibility to keep things organized and making sure that the product is still tasty. I ended up using useful tips that I have learned to make an excellent dinner. For the future I am going to have the goal to try and listen in class more and not talk as much to improve my social responsibility.

Assignment 6B How video games can change you.

My paragraph

Video games are a big part of our world today and the average 15 year old plays about 2-3 hours a day. That seems like a lot but Brandon played just about any minute that he had. Brandon started playing Call of Duty when he started grade 9. While he was been playing Call of Duty he spent less time doing things he enjoyed before like hockey and basketball. His circle of friends shrunk down to just three close friends that played Call of Duty with him. When his parents noticed his grades were dropping and his behavior was changing they took his Xbox away. Storming with anger Brandon packed his bag and left his house. His parents expected him to return soon but he didn’t. After weeks of searching he was found dead after he fell of a tree. Brandon got so obsessed with COD that he lost his life tragically because of it. His parents should have monitored his video games more and found a different solution instead of taking his Xbox away.

My experience with AI was straight forward and the program was easy to use.

The AI paragraph was true for the first 4 sentences. The rest of the paragraph seems to be completely made up and false information because he ended up tragically passing away.

The project was very useful and moving forward and I will remember not to use it because half of the information was not true.

The results I got were unexpected and disappointing because it thought that Chat GPT was smarter. The first half was well written and true but the second half was a let down.

Is the Pyjama bird real?

The pyjama bird was posted by a Facebook user called “The Wildlife”. It was a stunning bird that looked like it was wearing pyjamas. They posted a picture claiming that the bird was real. I then started my investigation to see if the pyjama bird was real. After checking Snopes it was quite clear that it was a hoax. The article stated that it was most likely AI-generated. For a second confirmation, I searched it up on Google and it confirmed that it was a hoax. To conclude my investigation I can confirm that the Pyjama bird is fake.
