My Core Competency Reflection

John Wu

Creative Thinking

In English 10, I have demonstrated creative thinking by forming original essays and stories. I was able to write an innovative sci-fi short story, using elements of time travel and components from other stories. I was able to think outside the box to make a mind-bending story using time, creating a story I was proud of and tested my creativity by thinking outside the box.

Critical Thinking

In Pre-Calculus 11, I have shown critical thinking by applying what I learned in class to solve problems. For example, many equations and word problems could have multiple solutions or ways to solve them. I could use my own interpretation of the problem to use different ways to solve them.

Personal Awareness and Responsibility

In PE 10, I was able to display my Personal Awareness and Responsibility by playing a role in team-based activities and knowing my strengths. During games, I played a role that could support my team and fit my strengths. When I did fitness tests, I was able to go past my limits and do the most push ups and have the highest vertical jump in my class which shows my improvement overtime. Furthermore, I was always learning from mistakes to do better each class.

Communication

In Drama 9, I illustrated my growth in confidence by communicating and building relationships with others. I was able to go from someone who did not confidence to being a lead role in a play. I made relationships with other students and showed attention to the audience. This was a course that affected my performance in other classes, allowing me to present confidently and communicate my ideas well.
