Creative thinking 

I demonstrated my creative thinking in English class, when we were asked to create a One-Pager on the book Animal Farm. Where you were required to create a page filled with evidence to support the topic you chose. Your topic is supposed to be about what you think is the main theme in the story and how the author is portraying your topic. We used quotes, images, and important questions as evidence. This was a good example of creative thinking, because it required me to come up with my own ideas for how I was going to present my information. I demonstrated that I could use what I have learned from the book and use the main events to help prove my point. I have grown in this core competency because I was able to complete the assignment, while enjoying still it because I had the freedom to choose whatever topic I wanted and design it that way.

Communication 

In French class I demonstrated my communication skills when we were required to do lit circles. This showed my communication skills, because I had to ask questions and participate in the conversation, while sharing my perspective on things in a way that other people could understand. It involved listening and participating while sharing our thoughts and ideas on significant topics. I have grown in this core competency, because I was able to share what I thought about the books I have read with my group as well as the people around us listening. I will continue to improve my communication skills by speaking more and communicating more clearly.

Communication

In Business, I did this commercial project, which was an excellent example of communication because I had to communicate what I was selling and why others should want to buy it.

Creative Thinking

In Business I did a Creating your own prototype project, which was an excellent example of creative thinking because I had to create my own prototype and make sur it works.

Critical Thinking

In Science, I did a Flame Ion lab, which was an excellent example of critical thinking because I had to analyze and write down what I saw and what were the changes that were made.

Social Responsibility

In Business I did this Minecraft Design assignment, which was an excellent example of social responsibility because I demonstrated that I could work with others.

Personal and Cultural Identity

In Business, I did this Culture appreciation assignment, which was an excellent example of personal identity because I demonstrated that I could know the difference between appreciation and appropriation, and I learned that culture is a big part of your identity.

Personal Awareness and Responsibility

In Science I did Mitosis and Meiosis video, which was an excellent example of personal awareness and responsibility because I had to create my own stop motion video and because my phone battery expanded, I couldn’t turn it in on time, so I had to let the teacher know and take responsibility.

Final Assignment Coast Salish Art: Part 2

My awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community changed. I learned that Coast Salish Art has deeper meaning behind it, that the shapes aren’t just placed at random and that there is a reason for where each shape is placed. I learned that crescents can be used for beaks and claws, that circles can be used for joints and eyes, trigons can be used for wings and U-forms can be used for tails. I find it very meaningful how not only does each shape have  meaning, but so do the animals. Creating my own drawing of Coast Salish Art made me appreciate the design process that goes into the making of each animal artwork.

Assignment 6B Information Fluency Paragraph

My paragraph:

In my columns, I wrote about baking. I learned that when you are measuring liquids, you need a measuring cup that has a spout. Sometimes, it can be hard to pour liquids without spilling if you don’t have a spout and precise measurements will ensure that the results are reliable. It’s best to try  and make measurements very specific, so that there is a lower chance of messing up the recipe. Sifting flour will help break down lumps, if you don’t sift your flour you will end up with too much flour. If you dip your cup strait into the flour  it can easily compact it for you and will leave you with drier baked goods, using a knife to flatten flour with ensure precise measurements. It is simple, quick and satisfying method that is very efficient. If you don’t know how to bake, it is not a huge problem because you can always follow the recipe.

Reflection questions:

What was your experience in using AI?
This was my first experience using AI, so I was surprised how quick and easy AI responded. It easily answered what I asked for and I didn’t need to do any of the work, it just wrote it all for me. However, I didn’t like the fact that I needed to add a little more specific information to get better results. Over all it did exactly what I asked it to do
Was the paragraph the AI generated accurate? Fact-check any new information and see if it’s true.
After reviewing the paragraph, I found that most of it was accurate. The information from AI was similar to the information that I had.
Was the exercise useful? How can this help you with your learning going forward?
Yes, this exercise was useful because it exposed more to AI  and it made me realize just how accurate AI can be when given specific instructions.
Were your results expected? Yes or No? Explain.
Yes, my results were expected because, AI makes it very easy for you to receive the information you need.
I have also heard other people mention things about AI and how it can be used for cheating, so I thought it would generally have good information.

 

Break the Fake -Did Walt Disney really want to ‘kill goofy’? Viral rumor that shook the internet

  1. After searching for some current news, I found an article that was published not too long ago. I found this article on a website called “SK POP”, where it talked about how Walt Disney didn’t truly want to kill Goofy and there was no actual proof of any notes written left behind.

2. To verify how trustworthy “SK POP” is, I searched their name up on google. I found out that they have several different social media accounts that are verified. 

3. Then I went onto Snopes.com to check if I could really trust this information. To my surprise “SKPOP” was right and Snopes verified that any rumors about Walt Disney leaving any notes left behind about Goofy were incorrect. 

4. Lastly, I double-checked by searching on Google and found several other articles claiming the same things as “SK POP”. 

5. I realized that after all the trusted sources I looked at, that it is most likely that the rumors going on about killing Goofy are false.
