Break the Fake – Netflix Tests Ways to Stop Password Sharing

1. This is an article I found on the internet after doing a quick search of Netlfix’s latest news. It’s about how 20-30% of Netflix users share a. Netflix account with people outside of their household, and how Netflix is sending out verification messages to select users to verify that they qualify to use the account.

2. The source of this article is CTV News. I already know that this news platform is trustworthy, but I visited their social media pages to get to know the source better. Their accounts on both Instagram and Twitter have the blue checkmark, verifying that they really are who they say they are.

3. Next, I searched them up on wikipedia to further improve my knowledge of the news platform. ON the wikipedia page, I found out that CTV News has been around in Canada since 1972 and that they are indeed a trustworthy website.

4. After verifying the source, I searched up the topic on Snopes.com to verify that this news wasn’t made up. Snopes.com verified that the news was true.

5. Lastly, just to make extra sure that it’s true, I searched “Netflix password sharing hoax” on google and didn’t find anything that contradicted the article.

After going through all of these steps to “break the fake”, I came to a conclusion that the news about Netflix sending out verification messages is true.
