Q3 Proud Assignment

In Quarter 3, my two classes were graphic arts and P.E. An assignment I am proud of was a project I did in graphic arts. The project was to make a poster for your assigned teacher and topic. I got Ms. Nembhard for fashion textiles. There were a lot of steps completing the poster, and I am really proud of each step. In the assignment, you had to treat the teacher you were assigned like a client. My first step in the assignment was interviewing Ms. Nembhard and asking her questions about how she wants it to look. I was nervous at first interviewing her but it went by fast and I got all the information needed. I was proud of myself after because I did it without messing up or being confused. I then went and sketched 8 different design ideas as a rough draft. I was so proud of this part of the assignment because I could not believe I did 8 rough sketches for design ideas in less than a day. All of them were different and it was only from asking a few questions. At first, it was tricky coming up with 8 different sketches for one poster from a few questions but I actually did it! After that, I got the sketches approved by Ms. Nembhard and she chose her favorite ones. Since she chose two sketches, I decided to find a way to combine them by putting some elements in another. Once I figured out how to combine them, I did a final, good copy sketch and made it into one drawing. I moved on to the final rendering where I did the final design digitally on adobe illustrator. The final sketch was like a reference and all I needed to do was make it on illustrator using its tools. I got to choose its color scheme, patterns, and typography text (font and text). It took me about a week or so to finish. I am very proud of this entire assignment on my fashion textiles poster. Mainly because I thought it would be so difficult. From interviewing a teacher and doing 8 sketches. I am really proud of how detailed it was, the layout, all the elements involved, and how it looks aesthetically pleasing. Doing the digital aspect of this assignment certainly helped me put what i learned in graphics to use for another person. I especially liked how you can see on the poster a sketch at the bottom and then when you look at the mannequin, its a work in progress of that sketch. I liked how i added some textiles materials and the hands at the sides show that fashion in for everyone, which was the message she wanted to give. Also the fact that I did the entire poster with a few questions and my imagination from scratch is what i think made me feel accomplished in the end.

Quarter 2 Proud Assignment

In quarter 2, my classes were french and social studies. A project I am proud of is a presentation I had in french. The project was to research about a francophone country and create a powerpoint presentation. If you did not know, francophone means a french speaking. I chose a small country named Burkina Faso. The entire presentation is typed in french and the titles had to be questions about the country. I am proud of this project because I used what I learned so far during that time and applied it to my project and also because I typed the entire presentation in french by myself. I did not use google translate but only used word references, dictionaries and most of all my notes. Working on this presentation helped me understand french better, put what I learned into use, helped me read french better, and typed french sentences in my own words. I am very proud of the mark I got as well and in the end it made me realize how much I really learned and the amount of french knowledge I know. My presentation looked good too and was very organized, informative, easy to understand, and contained pleasing pictures. Also, researching about a francophone country of my choice made it more interesting as I was learning more about francophone country cultures.

Woodworks 9 – Foot stool

Last quarter, woodworks 9 was my first class. the first project that we built was a foot stool.

I am very proud of it because building it required using almost every single machine in the shop and it was a challenge to learn. I have never worked with so many machines and I never knew how long it would take to finish a foot stool. it was really satisfying seeing the whole thing come together little by little, from the legs to the platform and smoothing it out. every step of making it was really fun and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to look. what i like about the stool is smooth finish on the top and around the edges, how clean and shiny it it because of the finishing touches, and my foot stool also has marks on it that remind me of the times in class with my friends. here is what i made…
