Q3 proud assignment

Summary
In my Q3 English class, we did a lot of poem writing.
I am proud of this specific poem because I think it was pretty creative and sounds like a real poem. This was actually also the first poem I wrote this year so it’s a good base to see how I improve in the future.

Today!
Wow! grass as vibrant as a green light!
Birds chirping as delightful as a church choir!
All the things we look past on.

Still makes this poem a surprise!
Things from people talking to birds flying.
They do have meaning.
They are as strong as a rock.

Break The Fake (II)

Hi again!

1. I found a post from an article that claims that an eagle snatched away a 2-month-old baby, and posted a picture of it on instagram.

https://www.theatlantic.com/news/archive/2016/07/eagle-child-australia/490922/

Now to fact-check this and find out if it’s real.

2.  I checked the source; “the Atlantic” on Wikipedia.

The article on “the Atlantic” on Wikipedia didn’t give us a reason to not believe this news article.

3. I searched up “A wedge-tailed eagle tried to carry off a young boy at the Alice Springs Desert Park in Australia, but the boy is okay.” on google and went to the news tab.
“National Geographic” a very famous magazine/news company verified this with this post

This leads me to belive that this Instagram post was real because national geographic is a trusted source and has verified this post.

5. I checked if any other news articles spoke to this.

It looks like 3 other articles spoke to this including “the weather channel” Which is also very well known.

This confirms that this post on Instagram is real.

Math 9 Poster         <<Link to project

I made this poster in my quarter 2 math class. We had to make a poster about the rules of exponents and make it eye-catching.
I am proud of this project because it took me quite a bit of time to write and design. I personally really like this project because it looks pleasant to the eye and the colour scheme really brings the project up. This project also helped me understand the rules of exponents while also having fun. The best part of this project is when I got a good mark for it 😀

Water Pollution/Endangered Sea Creatures

Passion Paragraph

The topic that I have chosen is about how plastics are killing sea creatures. I chose this topic because animals are very important to me, and writing and researching about them are enjoyable and interesting. Writing and reading about this topic helps me, and others extend our knowledge and help prevent pollution from growing.

Have you ever thought about what happens to the plastic you throw on the ground or leave behind out in the open? Well, Some littered plastics end up in the oceans due to the wind and garbage being blown around and into the oceans, and im going to talk about how this affects the many creatures that roam the oceans.

What I found out in my research was that a lot of the animals that live in the sea have at least some sort of plastic in them, ranging from something as small as micro-plastics from fabrics to plastic bags found at the grocery store, these plastics can be found in sea creatures that are higher up in the food chain. Surprisingly, the most common targets are sea turtles and whales. These animals can mistaken garbage in the oceans for food, so once they have consumed the plastics, they can’t get it out on their own, which leaves innocent sea creatures hurt and injured. In 2009 alone there were around 1800 instances recorded, where sea animals were hurt, and or horribly injured by plastic floating along the coast of the United States. 90% of the cases, the victimized sea creatures have accidentally consumed the plastic and many of the animals were found dead with plastic in their systems.
Overall, there were (the time the article was written) around 40 different species that were harmed by the plastic, 88% of the species were listed under highly endangered. There were 6 species of sea turtles, 3 species of seals and 3 species of whales.
