In Business 9, we had to do a presentation about an entrepreneur of our choosing. I picked Bill Gates.
This is the PowerPoint I created to do my presentation about Bill Gates. I am proud of this because this was my first project in Business 9. With public speaking, I am usually very nervous. Still, I spoke more confidently and shared my points effectively for the presentation. When I first picked my electives, I was very excited about business, so I am proud of what I accomplished in Quarter 3.
2. I checked if CBS News is a creditable source. I search them up on Wikipedia and found they are a large news broadcasting service, nationally and internationally. CBS News is a reliable source.
Wikipedia Article about CBS News
3. I searched Snopes.com to further check my information and see what is true and what is false. According to Snopes.com, the anti-body cocktail does not have stem cells or fetal tissue; this is also what the article states.
4. Lastly, I checked other sources to see if the information was accurate. I checked news sources like ABC News and the New York Times. My research proved that the article by CBS News is true, and the drug containing stem cells or fetal tissue is false.
I chose my Spanish Recording because I was not entirely confident in my speech and pronunciation. I spend an hour practicing what I was going to say before I began recording. During the recording, I would keep forgetting the words. The final result was an excellent recording I was proud of. But, there was room for improvement in my clarity and pronunciation.
My passion is cell theory because, for a career, I want to be a doctor. A recent advancement into biology called the stem cell could be revolutionary to medical science. Cell theory is a scientific theory that proposes that all living organisms are made of cells. Stem cells are a particular cell that the body produces.
Stem cells are cells that can transform into other cells and carry out their functions. They are used to treat blood and immune disorders. Biologists are excited about discovering two variants of these particular cells: Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and Pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These variants are more versatile and can adapt to the new environment in the human body. Stem cells can cure many diseases like diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc. However, they have not been used in practical therapy. Stem cell treatment has been tried on a human. In Japan, a 6-year-old boy with urea cycle disorder, a condition that lets ammonia build up in the bloodstream, was the first person to receive the world’s first stem cell transplant successfully. Stem cell therapies have the main goal to overcome: the human body has a finite amount of cells. At some time in a person’s life, they will no longer repair or replace cells. Diseases like cancer can kill cells quicker than the body can produce cells with can lead to death.
In English 9 we have been learning how to “PEE” (Point, Evidence and Explanation).
Here was the essay I handed in for the final, I am very proud of the result and the effect I put in. English is not my strongest subject so I am proud of what I accomplished in quarter 1.
