The assignment I have chosen to use as my favorite and proudest assignment is from my science class. We have had four units so far in this class since Q3 started. We have done electricity, chemistry, biology and are now starting ecology. This assignment was part of a series of projects and work that we did regarding genes and the way they are combined with others. Along with how certain genes are visa le and how some are not. What is meant by Assisted Human Reproduction?
The meaning of « Assisted Human Reproduction » is defined as any form of procedure that involves reproduction.
In what circumstances can Assisted Human Reproduction occur in Canada?
It can occur for any reason that also involves human reproduction.
Explain the meaning of each of the following terms as defined by the Act
Term Meaning (In student friendly wording)
Chimera This is a cell that consist of more than one embryo inside.
Donor A donor is willing to help other failed in having children by donating.
Embryo An embryo is another name for a human organism. They are considered embryo for the first 56 days after fertilization occurs.
Foetus
A foetus is a human organism that during the period of the development starting on day 57 after being fertilized excluding any of the time during the development being suspended.
Gene
A gene is a long strip of DNA that is used to make up what a person’s physical features and medical health are.
Genome
A genome is defined as the totality of deoxyribonucleic sequence of a certain human cell.
Human Clone
A human clone is an embryo that as a result of the manipulation of the human reproductive system or an invitro embryo is containing a diploid group of chromosomes that were obtained from a single living or debased human, foetus or even an embryo
Human Reproductive Material Human Reproductive health is considered a sperm, ovum or any other type of human cell/human gene.
Hybrid
This is a human ovum that has been fertilized by sperm that is in a non-human form.
In Vitro Embryo
This is an embryo that is not currently I contact with the human body.
Ovum
An ovum is in a human form, whether it is in a mature form or not.
Sperm
Sperm is this case in human form. Whether it is in a mature form or not.
Surrogate Mother
This is a female who, with intention of surrendering the child, carries an embryo for someone else.
