Food Blog 2

For this weeks food blog i decided to make a cream cheese lemon chicken in the slow cooker. I love using the crock pot for chicken dishes like this because the chicken always comes out super tender and flavorful. My family and i love this dish because the chicken is super good and there is sauce from the slow cooker we like to put on pasta.

For this recipe you need the following ingredients:

Chicken breasts

Cream cheese

Lemons

Garlic

Onion powder

Chicken broth

Rosemary

Salt and Pepper

Vegetable oil

Pasta

First you make the sauce which includes cream cheese, lemon juice, garlic, onion powder and chicken broth.

Put prepared chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker, then pour the sauce into the pot. Then put the sprigs of rosemary on top and let it cook for about 5.5 hours.

Once there is about 20 minutes till the chicken is done, start a pot of water with a splash of vegetable oil and bring it to a boil. Once at a boil place pasta in and wait till it is cooked. Then combine the chicken and sauce mixture with the cooked pasta then serve.

Food Blog Week 7

For this weeks blog i decided to make spaghetti and garlic bread. My mom and i like to make this for dinner quite often and my whole family loves it. We chose to make this because we had the beef in the fridge and it was going to go bad soon. We used around 2-3 pounds of ground beef so there was enough sauce for dinner for the 4 of us and for some leftovers. We didn’t measure much we added things till it tasted how we wanted it. This meal is great for my family because we all love having it and we all will eat the leftovers. It is fairly easy for us to make so me and my sister sometimes cook it for dinner. It turned out great and my family and i loved it. I personally love the garlic bread because it is easy and it uses up stale hot dog buns. One thing i learned is that its difficult to cook and take images at the same time.

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef
  • Garlic
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • Onion powder
  • Oregano
  • 6 hot dog buns
  • Spaghetti noodles
  • Tomato sauce
  • Tomato paste

Food Photography

I decided to take a picture of the chicken pot pie I made just as it was coming out of the oven. I thought the oven looked like a cool background for this picture.

In this picture i blurred out the background to focus on the vibrant colours of the ice cream i was holding. with the blurred background i found that the colours popped out more.

I was bored in quarantine and i decided to make fruit and chocolate. I arranged the fruit in sections to make it look even more appealing.  I added some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to go with it.

These are my most used cooking tools/props. They are essential for almost any recipe my family cooks. When i take pictures of the food i make i usually don’t include tools with it. i like how this picture is organized and you can see all of the tools.

Here are a few bonus pictures of recipes I’ve made:

Micro Bit Planning Part 2

My partner and I have started to design our micro bit home device. From the start we noticed some problems right off the bat. Previously I have done a little bit of coding with a micro bit.  But as I researched, I realized our idea might have been a bit complicated. Our coding skill level is too low for the original idea, so we have to rethink some things. Making the invention respond to a certain phrase or a sound was unrealistic.

  • The concept is a little too difficult for our skill level since we’re not very experienced with coding and micro bits.
  • If there was a baby crying or a dog in the room the lights would go wild from the barking and crying.
  • A thunderstorm or other storm like weather might affect the sensor.
  • We might not be able to figure out how to program it to just respond to claps.

So, Natalie and I both started thinking about a better way to complete this project while keeping the topic still on light switches. In the end we came up with the idea to use a motion sensor to set off an alarm. We can place the invention beside a doorway but high enough for it to not be set off by dogs or babies. By walking by the micro bit sensor, the motion will trigger an alarm or buzzing noise. It will remind you to turn off a light when you walk out or into a new room.

This sensor could also double as a home security system. If it’s late at night when everyone is in bed and you hear an alarm go off, you’ll know it’s because someone has entered your house or room.

Micro Bit Design Part 1

Today my partner Natalie and I decided to start our micro bit smart home device planning. We wanted our micro bit to solve the problem of unnecessary energy waste of light switches. It could be bright and sunny outside, but some lazy people will just leave their lights on resulting in wasted energy. There are also the people like us who get yelled at for forgetting to turn the lights off when we leave a room. My partner and I realize the waste of electricity and money resulting from this action. Natalie and I want to create a way to code the micro bit so it’s capable of sensing certain sounds. Once it senses the sounds that will tell the light switch when to turn on or off. Ideally, we would like to program the sound sensor to listen for claps or a phrase. This way as you are leaving or entering a room you can do either of those simple actions.
