a) How has your awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community changed? Be specific and give at least one example.

This assignment has changed my awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community because now I am much more knowledgeable of the Coast Salish art. Every shape has a meaning to it, so you can use the combinations of shapes to tell different messages about the animals. For example, the crescent represents the moon. So if you were trying to tell your viewers that your animal is nocturnal, for example, you could out crescents on a wolf design. Knowledge of this art style affects my life because now, when I view the art, I can see that the Coast Salish used the shapes in the art to tell us about the subject. I didn’t know this before and I know that instead of their art just being a picture, it can almost be a message telling you about the subject.
