Cancer Infographic

1. The overall topic of my project is the increase in new cases of cancer in Canada throughout the years. The overall goal of my project was to answer my question about the cancer increase in Canada and to understand why this has been happening and why it continues to increase more and more each year.

2. The sites I used for my research and infographic were “Canadian Cancer Society”, “Canada.ca”, and “Statistique Canada” . These websites are very large and trustable. Furthermore, I used many different articles from each of these websites to research my topic. By reading these articles, I learned a lot more about the severity of cancer in Canada and I discovered and learned about the Canadian Cancer Society, which I did not know existed before this project. 3. Utilizing these sites impacted my understanding of how technology can help the world and cancer research by accelerating progress against this disease. Without technology, we would know less about cancer and its severity and researchers would have less opportunities to research and share their findings about it. Because of technology, many of these things become much easier than it would be without it, especially sharing information to the rest of the world. With technology, we can spread awareness, which has helped our world a lot.

The Job of a Forensic Pathologist

One of my passions is science and biology, I love learning more about the human body and how you can discover things by looking into it. This is why I wish to be a forensic pathologist when I am older. This is why the title of my passion paragraph is “The Job of a Forensic Pathologist”. A forensic pathologist is someone who performs an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. There is quite a bit I already know about this profession but I still have many questions about it. The first article I read, I noticed a section on discovering the time of death of a person. The article mentions that it can not be done as accurately as shown on television programs and a rough approximation is the best that real-life forensic pathologists can do. This made me wonder about the process of determining the time of death of a human being. I think they need to check the condition of the body and perhaps the temperature, but was not certain. After reading through other articles in the gale power search, I discovered that the most common way of finding out the time of death of a person is by measuring the core temperature of the body. In the second and final article, the first sentence immediately made me wonder how forensic pathologists tolerate the smell of corpses. It is a known fact that corpses smell terrible and that makes me wonder on how forensic pathologists deal with it. I thought perhaps they wear masks while dissecting bodies or they just get used to the smell until it does not bother them anymore. After doing some research specifically on this topic in the gale power search, I discovered that I was completely incorrect on my assumption. Apparently, to mute the smell of corpses and to slow down the decomposition, they store them in a cold room.

Summary of Article:

Steps I Took to Confirm if this Article was TRUE or FAKE:

First I used one of my Fact Checking Tools to confirm if the information in the article is fake.

I searched up “Zendaya rejecting Tom Hollands marriage proposal HOAX“.

Looking at all the results that came up, there is a variety of answers. Many of these articles are questioning the situation, some are trying to prove it is a true situation and a few claim it is a “joke” the internet made up about the couple. Seeing all the results, I am more convinced it is fake then true but there a few more steps to truly confirm the truth.

The next thing I did was Check The Source. For this, I did a reverse image search by clicking on the image and right clicking “copy image link”.

Then I went to tineye.com and pasted the address.

While scrolling through tineye.com ‘s results for this image search, I noticed that this picture hasn’t been used for the same situation it is used for in the article. This image seems to mostly be used on celebrity crush websites and famous celebrity couple websites. Also, it seems like this image has been used many times before it was used in the article about Zendaya rejecting Tom Holland. This makes me further believe that this situation is fake.

Next thing I did to discover the truth is to Verify The Source. To do this, I took the name of the news company and searched it up in WIKIPEDIA. I did this to see the company’s reputation and to confirm if it really exists.

I searched the name of the company twice, once I searched it up with a space in between both words and the other time I searched it up without a space. The first time, some results came up but nothing about the company showed up. The second time I searched it up, I got no results. This is further confirming the possibility of the article being false.

The last and final step I took to finally confirm my suspicions is to Check Other Sources. I did this by searching up the situation (Zendaya rejected marriage proposal from Tom Holland) in the news tab to find a consensus.

While scrolling through the news tab after searching up “Zendaya rejected marriage proposal from Tom Holland”, I realized that I didn’t recognize any of the sources that were mentioned, meaning that the news is probably fake.

My Judgment: was it True or False?

My judgment in the end is that this situation is FALSE. I believe that this news situation is all made up after using all my steps from “Break The Fake” to confirm it. It was most likely all made up by the internet.
