Core Competencies (Growth)

Throughout this semester, I have experienced many opportunities of personal growth.

In Pre-Calc 11, we have been learning information on finance. This includes investment’s, loans, mortgages, interests, and credit cards. I feel like this information will be very useful for me in the future and will help me become grow and become independent in my own financial endeavors as I’m nearing to becoming an adult. This teaches me about responsibility and a look into how the real world works. It’s importance to my future is why  believe it is an amazing demonstration of the start of personal growth.

I’ve grown the most in my life outside of school because of my job. Having a job has taught me responsibility and the value of money. It has taught me to have confidence and to stand up to myself. I teach skating lessons and its difficult to stand up to angry parents when I’m just 17 years old, but this job has taught me that I can and that I should. If I don’t stand up for myself, who will? I have also grown into learning the responsibility of being responsible for a class of young children. Having to be aware at all times and trying to keep all the children safe while they skate around rashly is difficult, but it has taught me to never give up and to teach as best as I can.

Next, I will focus on developing my time management skills. This is important for all aspects in life, studying, doing school work and turning things in on time, managing my time during skating lessons (when to teach what skills) and even when I have chores I need to fit in at home. I am usually good with turning assignments in on time, but I need to broaden my time management skills to real life too, not just in school. I believe this will be an amazing skill to strengthen for my future, and I will work towards it by making day plans and using calendars more often.
