Critical thinking is a core competency I have significantly improved this year. I have developed and analyzed during projects/assignments within my classes, for example, English 12, History 12, Law 12, and Mandarin 12. I found that within my classes, I have experienced many times where I have encountered several different obstacles, where I had to put my critical thinking skills to use. An example would be when I was annotating a comic book, “Almost American Girl” by Robin Ha in my English 12 class. This book was about a Korean girl who moved to the States against her will and had to adjust to a new life there. During my annotation progress, I used critical thinking skills to develop new ideas and questions that investigated my thoughts about a comic book that resonated with me significantly. Another core competency I have significantly improved on this year would be my positive personal & cultural identity. As a Grade 12 and upcoming high school graduate, I have spent a lot of time trying to find my identity, especially when it comes to bonding with others to do so. I have found that connecting to my roots/culture by connecting with those who also value it helps elevate my strengths and abilities. I value my relationships with others deeply when it comes to exploring our cultural findings. Ultimately, I hold my significant progress very proudly, and I would say my Grade 12 year at Ecole Dr. Charles Best has been a fantastic academic year.
