Core competency grade 11 reflection

In drafting, it required me to apply my knowledge of real life appliances and logic. It shows that I can build a house with furniture of the necessities everyone needs in a house and that I can build a floor plan of a house. More specifically, I needed to find the dimensions of the furniture of real life objects to make the house scaled realistically, then I scaled it down to a size that can fit on a mini sized model of my vacation home.

In Physics 11, I demonstrated creative and critical thinking to create a mousetrap cart. Also, we had to complete various calculations to go along with it. We had to plan out the design, gather the required materials, construct our prototype, and then finally test and improve it. During this process we caused many errors and we had to think of creative ways to solve them. To solve these problems, we thought of using alternative materials to reduce as much of the error as possible. In addition, we also wanted to reduce the friction between the materials, which made us think about the usage of WD-40 or different types of ways to wind up the axle.

For the past few years, I have created small goals for me to reach in order to foster healthier habits. For instance, I have been making a homework page every day to keep track of assignments or homework I need to complete for each class. This technique has allowed me to better manage my time and space out work accordingly. Sometimes, when I do lots of homework or extra practice on Chemistry 11 and Physics 11, I get exhausted. To relax and ease my anxiety, I will talk to my friends over the phone or walk downstairs to talk to my family members.

Core Competency

In EFP 11, I did a black out activity that is created from a book page. I created an intriguing piece of art, that covered over the useless words from the page, then I used the piece of paper and cut out some of the blacked out words, to have a unique shape. This formed the paper into a bridge like shape with blue under it, to show the water below the bridge. Furthermore in English, we looked at a total of 11 pictures and analyzed each one. This shows my creative thinking skills because we share our own opinion on what we interpreted from the drawings. One of the drawings we analyzed is settlers created with Indigenous symbols, cutting down Indigenous trees with clear blue sky in the background. This is a good example of my creative thinking skills because I said the settlers carry the guilt of destroying the peaceful indigenous lands. My contribution to open ended discussions show my creative thought process because I tell my teacher Mr. Willett what I think about everything such as: drawings, artifacts, and stories. Also, I did an English project that required me to summarize the story we read and put it in a single drawing, this made me think about what I should add onto my drawing and how to add every interesting detail provided. In the end, I created a master piece demonstrating every single detail I have thought of, a drawing so magnificent that it got me 12/12.

Oh Balloons GROUP PROJECT.pdf

The group project I selected above required me to apply my knowledge of experimental techniques, quadratic functions, and graphing. I demonstrated my critical thinking in this assignment through both the academic topics incorporated in the project, as well as my communication and collaborative skills among group members. My completion of and feedback from this assignment demonstrates that my maths skills are well beyond my age group level. It also shows that I have extensive knowledge of topics in Pre-Calculus 11, despite being a grade 10 student. More specifically, I needed to find a formula and create the equation from the experimental data, to get the result my teacher wanted. In the process of doing this, I had to search up topics I have never learned before and pick the correct equation using logic. One way that I plan to further develop my thinking competency is to pursue maths and physics projects that I am interested in outside of the classroom, whether through summer programs, extracurricular clubs, or even independently.

On the other hand, my social responsibility comes from Physical Education. I have been a great leader and have taken steps to promote inclusion in PE, so that all classmates can enjoy the class. I have been proactive in setting up the activities, talking to students, and informing others of the rules if needed. When someone makes a mistake or gets eliminated in a game, I try to encourage them by reminding them not to worry and focus on the next round. In the future, I hope to extend my personal and social competencies by interacting more with my peers in other classes besides PE. I notice that I tend to take on a leadership role when I am confident in my abilities (such as sports); however, I would like to apply these goals in subjects that I am not as familiar with and adept in.

FINAL PROJECT DL 10

DOES BASKETBALL IMPROVE HAND-EYE COORDINATION? – FINAL PROJECT

For my final project i decided to pick “does basketball improve hand-eye coordination?” I chose this topic because i have personal experience with basketball like what i have talked about in my previous posts.

I also chose this topic because i feel like some people think you should only look at the ball when you dribble but the reality is that you should be looking up for passes or even shots instead of looking down. Another thing is that looking down can also get the ball stolen because you don’t know where the defender is.

The goal of this project is to inform everyone to always practice your hand-eye coordination in basketball because it is very important and can even help you win a basketball game! Throughout me researching this topic i learned that basketball is not just defence or offence it’s both.

Finally, i hope you have learned something while reading my final post, and thank you for reading my final project!!!

Basketball

Hi i am Ethan,

I am researching about the topic basketball history, basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world, back then there were NBA stars like Wilt Chamberlain, Micheal Jordan Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryrant , and Lebron James. Back then the Chicago Bulls was also the best team with Scotty Pippen and Micheal Jordan, and if we look at the very back there was sky hooks which was a type of shot that was like a 90 degree circle and basically hope it would go in because really at that time they had basically no skill and no 3 point line. Also, that was the time where Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in one game, which was very hard to do because that was like you being the only star player, and everyone passing to you. Also, back then there was no shot clock so they could be running around the court the whole game without a single shot, and they would use their right hand a lot, but now we have a 24 second shot clock and we use both hands with advanced moves. We also shoot with an actual form, and not hoping it would go in.

Stephen Curry breaking 3 point record!!!

This video talks about how he broke Ray Allens 3 point record and hit the number 2974 three pointers hit in his life, and how his father was there watching him break the record, and his father was a NBA player too back then.

Look at the very top for pictures!!!

It is true that Stephen Curry broke the 3 point record.

What i did on take my child to school day!!! (TOKTWD)

https://share.icloud.com/photos/018OfsmuFQpXnhJZN-GLmjBKA

I chose to do Mac Donalds advertisement, this photo is a photo of my aunts workplace at home and a bit of her workplace.

1.What would you see throughout the day in this workplace?

What i saw throughout the one day at my aunts workplace was my aunt joining meetings with business partners, her dog running around and having fun. Then i went to her office and i saw a lot of people at their laptops working, and i saw some meeting areas, people discussing about work, games to play when its free time, and their food area where you can get free food from the kitchen. So that is what i would saw throughout the day.

2. How would you feel through most of the day at this workplace?

If you were working at home like how my aunt works you would probably feel the dog licking you or the dog touching you, doing dogs things pretty much, and you might be stressed because of the amount of work, like for example the meetings, taking care of the dog, and having a lot of work because you are leading your group of people . But if you were working at her office, you might feel overwhelmed because you have to like walk all over the place to talk with people, and meetings.

what i like to see on my comments

  1. Don’t swear or say things that can affect other peoples emotions.

I don’t like to see comments that have swearing or negative words, especially when it is used to say something mean about               me, it can change my mood very quickly because i don’t like negative comments at all. Please keep in mind there might be               adults or children looking at these comments.

2. Treat people how you want to be treated.

I think that saying stuff that can change peoples mood is not nice, just imagine someone else saying that to you, you                           probably won’t like to see these comments too on your comment section. Remember cyber bullying is not good, so you                     should not do it and so should others.

3. Think before you post.

I think that you should think before you post because if you were in a bad mood and wanted to say something mean, you                   should think what would happen if you sent it. You might not want to send it out once you are in a good mood, it is                             understandable if you are saying stuff you don’t mean to say, but keep in mind what would happen if you send comments.

4. Don’t use sarcasm.

I think if you use sarcasm it is not good because you don’t actually mean what you say. If you want to comment, say                           something nice instead of being sarcastic, and i think sarcasm is one of the bad ways of saying something on someone else’s             post.

Example:

I love your posts, i am a big fan of basketball myself, that video of Stephen Curry breaking the 3 point record is also inspirational to me. However, i think Stephen Curry hitting far 3 pointers is more fun and entertaining to watch, maybe we can meet in person and talk sometime!
