Metaphors – What am I?

In the beginning of this quarter I had to do I mini presentation for French. It was a quick drawing paired with a paragraph introducing a little of yourself with a metaphor. I chose a cactus.

It was the first piece of work we had to hand in so of course I tried to make it look as good as possible and I am extremely proud of how the drawing turned out. Though it is simplistic it is also almost exactly how I envisioned it in my head so I am thrilled to see it manifest into reality. This also made me a lot more motivated on my personal projects since I was in creative block but actually drawing something for a project made me more tempted to pick up a pencil and doodle. So I’d say it’s a win win all around. 🙂

English – In Class Paragraph Writing

In the later half of my English course we were faced with multiple in class assessments in the form of paragraph writing. At the time of the first assessment it was worth more than the rest of our tests combined so needless to say the pressure was on. The objective was to deliver an academic paragraph analyzing the characteristics of a character present in a short story we’ve read in class. The short story was titled “Manhood” and it was written by John Wain. The overall narratives depicts a young boy lying to his father in fear of disappointing him and we we’re tasked with analyzing the traits of the young boy named Rob Willison. Having done some comprehension questions before hand I had a rough idea on what to write about, but I didn’t know how else to prepare so I was still kind of going into the assessment blind. Shockingly I ended up with the highest mark in my class (to my knowledge) which is only surprising since no one else received full marks. This later prepared me for the following assessments giving me confidence in my writing as well as ideas for pre-assessment preparations.

Podcast: Monstres et Meutres

For my first quarter of high school one of my classes was Communications 9. This project was one of the projects we did. The objective was to create a short original podcast with two episodes, it also had to contain ad breaks and a logo. As this was a group project I can’t possible take any credit for the amazing artwork done for our podcast, the concept was definitely mine though.

My vision for this project was to have a podcast centered around reading and discussing old fairy tales, fables, folk lore and legends. For those of you that are unaware the name of the podcast translates to Monsters and Murders. I am immensely grateful for my two project partners for entertaining my idea, for if not this would have never became a thing.

I am a huge fan of old tales and the like, the story telling always seems to speak to me. Discussing stories like “The Golden Bird” and “Bluebeard” with my classmates was definitely a highlight of my first quarter here at Best. I am extremely proud of the episodes we as a group produced even though we did have to change and improve certain things during production.

All in all this was a great bonding experience with my classmates and an overall fun project.
