Coast Salish Art Reflection

My awareness of Coast Salish Art in our community has changed a lot. When I first saw Coast Salish Art, I thought it was just a simple picture. But, as I went through the past two assignments, I learned that it is more than that. First, I learned that the animals in the art have different meanings. For example, snake has a meaning of transmutation, and beaver has a meaning of builder. Second, I learned the meanings of the shapes in the animals. Circle, for example, represents cycles, Sun, and Moon.

Core Competencies

For the core competencies, I chose critical thinking. In Woodworking 9, I had to analyze the steps to prevent making mistakes. If I didn’t exactly know what I was doing, I might have messed up or done something wrong. Moreover, I designed my own logo for my footstool, which demonstrated development and design.

Digital Tool

I used Copilot as my digital tool. It generates images for the items I ordered. The benefits of using this tool are that it is fast and easy to use. It only took me 5 minutes to create the image I wanted. All I had to do was specify the type of image I needed. However, it was hard to get the exact image that I wanted. By using Copilot, I learned that AI is developing rapidly and can assist people in many ways.

Application in other courses

Copilot can be beneficial for numerous other courses, especially in courses that require digital images. As I mentioned, it generates images very quickly, which saves me a lot of time. Moreover, I can generate a good image even if I am not good at drawing. For example, if I am in an art class and need a digital image for my project, I can just use Copilot and generate an image.
