What is the overall topic and the goal of your project?

My goal is to spread awareness of what is happening to our oceans when ever we liter, use our cars, mine, burn and use fossil fuels.  It is a tragedy what is happening to our oceans and it is even worse that no government is doing anything to help the problem.  This is a problem that if no one does anything to help this will destroy our planet.

What sites did you use to collect your data and create the infographic and what did you learn about it?

national geographic, Gale and Our world in data.  I learned that garbage isn’t the only bad thing that is being dumped into our oceans because sewage, industrial waste and oil are being dumped as well. I also learned that the Philippines and Indonesia are some of the biggest contributors to the ocean pollution.  I also learned that the ocean pollution is way worse that I thought.

How has the process of utilizing these sites impacted your understanding of how technology can change (or help) the world?

I think that we can use technology to help clean the ocean from garbage and prevent it form getting into the ocean.  I’ve seen some videos of these massive robots that are put in major rivers and pick up all the garbage flowing down and it stops it before getting to the ocean, this is just one of the things engineers are making to help this problem.
