Communication:
Communication has always been a struggle for me when it came to presentations, constantly stressing perfection and experiencing the pressure of judgement. Although these fears remain true, throughout my life I have learned that having confidence by showing my personality and not being afraid to express myself has helped me persevere through many difficult situations.
Relation to my physics presentation:
Because of my struggle with communication, I had difficulty planning my presentation, worrying about memorizing the exact words for each slide of the PowerPoint, and struggling to find the right timing throughout the presentation. However, through practice, I was able to reflect on my mistakes and imperfections, ultimately realizing that presenting isn’t about perfection. I learned to talk smoothly and calmly rather than robotic and stern which helped my confidence with presentations. As well, I noticed the presentations of others and gathered subtle details in which they used to augment their ideas. In the end, I was able to engage with the audience in a meaningful way, and I learned that my confidence and personality connects with the audience in many ways.
