Coast Salish Art

critical thinking question

My awareness of Coast Salish art in our community has grown through creating my own piece in class. Before, I didn’t pay much attention to the details and meaning behind the designs, but now I understand how important symbols, shapes, and colors are in telling stories. For example, while making my own artwork, I learned how flowing lines and traditional patterns represent nature and cultural teachings. Now, when I see Coast Salish art in public places like murals or welcome poles, I recognize the deeper meaning behind them and appreciate their significance in honoring Indigenous traditions.

Mundy Park Runs

  1. The core competency that fits my assignment about my runs is Personal Awareness and Responsibility. This connects because I set goals, stayed motivated, and reflected on my progress after each run. Running helped me be responsible for my improvement and push myself to do better each time.
  2. Using Canva to present my assignment about my runs was a fun and creative experience.  The benefits included being able to visually seeing the poster by adding photos, charts, and timelines for each run. The design templates made it easy to organize my times and personal reflections. A challenge I faced was finding the right layout to fit all the details without making the poster look cluttered
  3. I can use Canva in English to make storyboards, in Marketing to create ads, and in Social Studies to design timelines.Canva would be beneficial because it helps organize information clearly while making projects look polished and engaging.
