For take your kid to work day I visited a few RBC branches with my dad. It was with a group of other grade 9’s, so we started with getting to know each other. We played a few games and once we were finished we went to a different branch and learnt about stocks and bonds. We played a game based on the Stock market, and buying and selling Stocks and bonds. After the game was finished we went back to the first building and ate lunch. I ate pastries, fruit, and juice. After lunch we went to the oldest RBC building in BC, and the 3rd oldest in Canada. The Walls where all stone, and all the door handles, railings, chandeliers, air vents, and doors were all made of brass. The floor of the building was made of white marble with intricate patterns with other types of stones. The building reminded me of Gringotts Bank from “Harry Potter.” We g0t to see the vault in the basement of the building, and ride in a really old elevator. Lastly we went back to the original building and had to make a stock pitch to a few head honchos\ big bosses in RBC. We had to convince them why they should invest in our stock, and the statistics and reasoning behind it.
During take your kid to work day I heard the sound of keyboards and light chatter. When we went to the really old bank it smelt old and it had the sent of dirty metal (like a handful of coins). The bank didn’t smell bad at all, it just smelt old. I felt a desk, a bank vault, cold brass railings, and a really old elevator.
The thing I liked the most about the job was the positivity, team spirit, and fun between everyone in the office. Being around caring, fun, and passionate people would motivate me to work harder if I did peruse this carrier.
The thing I disliked about this job was the amount of Sitting in front of a computer I would do. This job requires a lot of sitting, and I would prefer to do something more physical or active for my future job.
The most interesting thing I got to see was the really old bank. It interested me the most for several reasons. First of all the whole thing looked like Gringotts from Harry Potter, then We got to see the safest vault in Canada, and lastly we got a ride in a really old elevator.
