Core Competencies

Obtain, interpret and present information.

I show this Core competency in my classes when I am doing projects. Earlier this year, I had a very big Science project where I had to do an inquiry on space. When I did this project I was challenged in many aspects. I had to find reliable sources to research my information and learn from these sources. I had to interpret this information so I could properly understand the concepts fully. To present I needed to fully understand what I was learning. When I presented I was comfortable and confident because I knew the subject well.

This core competency is very important because I need to be able to do this throughout my schooling, but also possibly in the future when I have a full time job. I can make sure I put in a lot of effort and try my best so I can fully accomplish everything I am trying to do.

2. Self-Determination

I show this core competency in many aspects. For school I make sure I do all my homework and work of projects myself. I do not need other people to get me to do my work. The same applies for sports. When I am determined and driven to do something I will do it.

I think this core competency is important because you need to be able to work on your own without other people making you work. Now we live with our parents and such and have them, teachers and coaches making sure we are doing our work, but in a lot of cases in the future we won’t have this. Our parents will have less of an impact on our lives when we are older and same with teachers. Also coaches and such may not even be in our lives depending on the path we choose. it is very important that we are self-determined and self-driven.

I have learned a lot this year about digital literacy. This project specifically showed me a great new app that is very useful and I can use it in the future. I have been shown to this new app and I have also been shown how to use it to an extant and i could experiment and learn even more. I know how to use this app very well and it is easy, simple and free which is very helpful and good. This class has really helped me and I will be better off in high school knowing everything I have learned.

my opinion on the AI

AI was very easy and simple to use. All I needed to do was write a sentence telling it was to do and it wrote me a whole paragraph. The AI paragraph was all correct information and was well written. This can help me realize how AI works and what is does and can do. I have already heard about this use of AI so I was surprised and expected it to write a paragraph how it did.

Skiing is an incredible activity for families to bond over. Firstly, it offers a thrilling experience that creates lasting memories. As you glide down the slopes together, there’s an undeniable sense of adventure and excitement. Additionally, skiing promotes physical fitness and coordination, making it a healthy activity for everyone involved. Sharing the joys of skiing with family members fosters a sense of teamwork and support, as you encourage each other to try new runs and improve your skills. Moreover, the après-ski time spent together, whether it’s enjoying hot cocoa by the fireplace or recounting the day’s adventures, strengthens familial bonds and creates cherished moments. Overall, skiing with family not only provides fun and recreation but also cultivates deeper connections and shared experiences that endure beyond the slopes.

I think that skiing is great activity to do with your family and friends. It keeps you active and is very fun. It is a really good way to stay connected with your family. I remember learning how to ski when I was younger and how fun and exciting that was and I still love skiing to this day. My whole family loves to ski and it really brings us all together. The temperature is sometimes warmer than normal and skiing conditions are not very good but it can still be fun.

Break the Fake pt 2

A video on twitter was circulated of Joe Biden nibbling on a child’s shoulder. Many people said the child looked uncomfortable. Many people were upset with Biden and were saying how he is disgusting and weird. The article talks about how Biden has done things like this before. He has made several people uncomfortable by touching and invading their personal space to have people like him. There were also some instances where he made inappropriate comment towards women.

I searched up the article on snopes.

Snopes said that the article was true.

I found the full video of the incident on X and it appeared real to me but i still need to fact check the photo of it happening.

The first photo was found on July 12 and the article I read was published on July 14 so the timeline makes sense and seems reliable.

I found a lot of different articles discussing the same thing as the article I picked so it is more likely to be real if lots of different groups of people are talking about it.

This article is true because every time I checked to see if everything was reliable it was. Snopes said it was true. The dates that Tineye gave me proved that the timelines worked and the picture was real. I saw the actual video and it looked very real and i can the Biden nibbling on the child.

I went to my dad’s work and did a lot of different activities. I went out for lunch to a restaurant. I did a resume learning workshop and practiced getting a job interview with some other kids doing what i was doing. I had many presentations from several different workers at the law firm. There was a variety of jobs, such as accountants, lawyers, and HR. We had a tour of the office, which was three floors in a very big office building downtown. I learned a lot while at this visit and I am happy I had the opportunity to do it.

1. Who are you going to work with?

What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?

I heard a lot of printers. I saw a few people, but quite a few empty desks. I saw a very big office building. I felt a bit shocked at first, but after a little while I felt quite normal. I could not smell anything out of the ordinary, that is it all smelled like my usual environment.

What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?

The people there are very nice and easy to talk to. There is a very nice view of some mountains. There are many nice and fun activities just outside the office.

What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?

The office and desks are quite bland and somewhat depressing. You have to stay cooped up in your office or at your desk for most of the day. There is no colour and even the artwork does not look very good.

What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit?

The office I went to had a shower room on one of their floors for just their employees. They also had a small meditation or rest room that you can visit.

Today I went to father`s work, McMillan LLP, the greatest law firm in the world because my dad is a partner and heads the technology law group.
