Core Competencies

Throughout this year I used my reflective and critical thinking in multiple aspects of my life. In school, I demonstrated this through developing and refining my ideas in all of my classes. For example, in Electronics, I had to adjust my bot and keep testing it each time. In each class, I tried to improve the design whether it was the size, weight, or balance. In addition, I worked on circuit boards and wiring a controller to the bot. When a motor or circuit was not working, I problem-solved and thought about what could be wrong with my wires. Other classes like Social studies helped me by analyzing and critiquing the historical perspectives of Louis Riel and John A. Macdonald. Having to write an essay enabled me to explore and form my explanation for various perspectives in history. Completing English essays, I was proud to improve by reflecting on previous efforts and setting new goals. In all my classes I used reflective and critical thinking to solve problems, refine ideas, and form perspectives.

Communicating is a vital part of my life. I successfully considered different perspectives in school and at home. Part of the electronics class was prototyping and drafting a robot. My partner and I discussed various ideas and measurements and completed our design. Another class I needed to work with people was Entrepreneurship. I worked in a group to make a product that we could sell. Having various ideas, we listened and considered other perspectives to create a product successfully. There are multiple strategies I used to communicate to my audience. Firstly, I completed assignments such as essays and videos. In other instances, I made videos for advertisements and one to show cell stages.
I changed formats based on each assignment inclined to portray my information optimally. During sports, I have to be an active listener to learn the techniques and focus of my training. These are only a glimpse into how I use communication in my life.
