Coast Salish art final assignment

My awareness for coast Salish art has changed a lot from doing these past assignments. Before doing this assignment I had not realized how much technique that goes into coast Salish art. So much thought goes into the art, as artists use different shapes to signify different things. I thought it was interesting how different shapes are unique to indigenous culture. I now have a deeper understanding of coast Salish art and how it affects us and our community.

Information Fluency Paragraph

My paragraph: The rhythm of music is important to dancers for many different reasons. Dance is the expression of feelings when listening to music. The music makes you want to dance. Without the music you’re not dancing you are just moving. Every song has a beat, The steady repetitive pattern gives us the timing of the music. The music helps dancers count the beats especially when preforming. The rhythm of the music influences the way dancers express themselves. Depending on what genre of music it is, it usually  corresponds to different dance styles. The rhythm of the music is like a guide, it ensures that the dancers are in sync with one another.

Ai generated: The rhythm of music is essential to dancers for several reasons. Firstly, it provides a structured framework for movement synchronization, ensuring dancers move in harmony with each other and the music. Secondly, it serves as a tool for expressiveness, allowing dancers to convey emotions and moods through their movements. Additionally, the rhythm assists in timing and precision, enabling dancers to execute choreography with accuracy. Strong musicality enables dancers to interpret and respond to musical elements, enhancing their performance. Finally, the rhythm maintains flow and continuity, guiding dancers through seamless transitions between steps and sequences. In essence, the rhythm of music is a vital component that shapes the movement, expression, and overall performance of dancers.

  • What was your experience in using AI? I found using AI to make a paragraph was easy. I thought it was cool how AI can create answers in less than a minute.
  • Was the paragraph the AI generated accurate? Fact-check any new information and see if it’s true. The AI generated paragraph was accurate and it had some great points to why the rhythm of music is important.
  • Was the exercise useful? How can this help you with your learning going forward?I think this exercise was useful because it generated a great paragraph, even with some ideas i hadn’t even thought of. This can help me with my learning because as i said AI generated ideas that i hadn’t even thought of. I think that could help me when I’m struggling to find ideas.
  • Were your results expected? Yes or No? Explain. These results were expected because i knew AI is really smart and i knew it would come up with great ideas.

Take your kid to work day!

On take your kid to work day I had an awesome day with my dad accompanying him to work at Capilano University! Throughout my visit I had a tour around the big campus and there was a lot of walking involved. My dad is an HVAC (heating and ventilation mechanic), he showed me all the previous work he’s done and all the things that still had to be done/fixed. At my visit my dad’s coworker gave me a tour of all the plants and trees that are growing there since she is the gardener.

    1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?  I heard running machines such as air handling units, pumps, exhaust fans, motors. I saw how the machines run to supply comfortable temperatures in spaces like in classrooms and offices. I smelled different smells like the wood shop, mechanical rooms, cafeteria and fresh air outside. I felt different temperatures depending on the work environment.
  1. 2. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?  Capilano University has great scenery and views. Everywhere around the campus has tons of nature growing, there are different trees and plants almost everywhere you look. Everybody is very kind and respectful.
  2. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work? Every day my dad wakes up everyday at 5:00 am. Being an HVAC is a lot of work because you are constantly going into each building and classrooms to check if the temperature in the rooms are comfortable. An HVAC mechanic has to go into all the ventilation rooms to see if everything is working right (and there are a lot of ventilation rooms).
  3. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit? One thing I found interesting during my visit is that HVAC mechanics know that there is something to be fixed because on there computers they get requests from people around the building to fix the temperature.
