An Assignment I’m Proud Of From Semester One – Art 9 Shapes Assignment

I chose this assignment because it was one that came to mind when I tried thinking of assignment that I was proud of. It wasn’t all that complicated, it was to draw shapes, lots of them, and how they might interact with each other in a three-dimensional space.

I took a very technical approach to this and used two-point perspective to get the box shapes the way I wanted them, then for the spheres I just drew circles.

Making them interact was the more challenging part. I had to estimate and wrap my head around spheres merging into cubes and rectangular prisms cutting into a big cube.

The shading was the most time-consuming part of the project. I had a clear idea of the contrast I wanted in this piece, so I had lots of shading to do. This wasn’t as well executed on the spheres as it was on the flat-edged shapes because I was not as focused on the final product while completing this project.

This assignment was one I had been dreading until I got to it. Using two-point perspective helped me do this project easily and the hardest part ended up being the shading as I said before.

I am proud of this assignment because even if I wasn’t enjoying every second of it, I was still able to persevere and come up with a finished piece.

I am very grateful to have had the opportunities I did in art class this year and hope I have more chances to do similarly in the future.
