Q & A

What is the overall topic and the goal of your project?

The overall topic of my project was talking about the effects of Covid-19 on our mental health, and how it affected different genders and ages. The goal of my project was to inform people that if they struggled with their mental health during the pandemic that they were not alone. I wanted to share

What sites did you use to collect your data and create the infographic and what did you learn about it?

The site I used to collect my data was StatsCan https://www.statcan.gc.ca/en/start and the Government of Canada https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/publications/diseases-conditions/infographic-mental-health-second-wave-covid-19-pandemic.html. For my infographic I used Canva. StatsCan demonstrated many informational graphs which helped me a lot. At first it was a bit hard to find the correct information. Eventually I figured it out and it was easy to search for it. The government of Canada talked a lot about the mental health of Canadians during the pandemic which helped me understand how their mental health was overall. These two databases helped me a lot with the information for my infographic.

How has the process of utilizing these sites impacted your understanding of how technology can change (or help) the world?

I find the technology of StatsCan to be quite interesting. They take surveys from Canadians and document them. For the future with education and if there is ever a history class on Covid-19 this can be especially useful for teachers to explain with percentages. For general research I recommend more simple sites like the Government of Canada which talks about more than just graphs.
