Hello everyone! My dad runs a royalty company based in the mining industry. So for TOKTWD, today I went to my dads office in Downtown, Vancouver.

What we did

Once I arrived to the office I got myself set up at the desk. Around 9 we had a online meeting that was finding a strategy or thinking how they can buy a mineral project in Nevada. Around 10-10:30 we had another meeting about selling a copper and gold project in British Columbia to another exploration company. Once the meeting was finished I went back and did more work. At around 11:30 me and my dad walked to Miku for lunch. After lunch I did more work and at 2 we had a third meeting that was a strategy and planning session to look for copper, rare earth elements, and gold in Mexico for 2023.

 

The work environment

The work environment was nice and quiet and there really isn’t any distinctive smell. In the morning people would say hello to each other, and ask how they’re doing. It’s not loud or noisy but sometimes there would be people chatting to each other for a bit, like asking questions, or you would hear people on an online meeting. There are two private rooms for meetings and presentations, in the main area there are 5 desks and a small kitchen. On every desk there are two monitors, that hook up to your laptop. In the two private rooms there is one big table, 8 chairs and a tv.

 

Would the work environment motivate me to go to work?

Yes. since it’s quiet in there, I can focus easily and do my work. I feel like I would be motivated to wake up everyday to go there, because everyone is friendly and they don’t disturb you. I’m not working in a cubicle so I don’t feel so enclosed. You can see a view of the waterfront area in Vancouver, so it’s nice to take a small break from what you are doing and enjoy the view.
