How fast fashion is affecting our environment

DL

Reflection:

My overall topic of this final assignment is to display the impact the fast fashion industry has made on the environment. The goal of this is to raise awareness towards the harmful condition we put our earth to. With that, we can minimize future negative impact on the environment.

I used many sites to create this infographic which are cited below. From those websites I have learned 4 main things. Fast fashion contributes a part of the global carbon emission rates, production rates has doubled the past 20 years, 1% of items are recycled which means 99% are wasted, and these industries can harm the food chain. Fast fashion contributes 10% of the carbon emission rates. Climate change is caused by the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which results in our world heating up. Production rates doubling and consumers buying more. When buying more they discard more. Less than 1% of items are recycled into new things. It is not sustainable it is wasteful and harmful towards our land.  The food chain is being harmed from half a million tons being dumped every year into water. Once aquatic life is harmed the food chain is harmed.

Utilizing websites and canva to create, I have learned some things. These websites can help everyone better their understanding on the topic. But, overall technology can help us understand and communicate things. When used for the right things, technology is great.

Benefits of baking

When you think about baking, you think about artistic and delicious desserts, or magnificent creations of food. But there is way more to it than that. Baking can change people’s lives, it can teach you about other cultures, and it can repair broken relationships between people.

People can talk about changing lives and think nothing of it. But some don’t know how it can completely alter a person’s point of view, it could even be a matter of life and death. Who knows, maybe you offer someone a piece of your food and suddenly they feel like they’re full of life again. You can start a business with baking. Many people may start baking as a hobby, and then find out that it can be something they can enjoy and make money out of.

Baking can also introduce you to other cultures. Different varieties of desserts, ingredients from various places, new art and designs you’ve never seen, tastes you’ve never tasted. Baking truly is such an international joy. The joy doesn’t only need to be shared internationally though. It could even be shared within your household. Baking with family or friends can bring you just as much joy because you’re still sharing it with people.

Baking can also do lots more. It could live to tell stories throughout generations, it can keep you healthy, and very therapeutic. Recipes are passed down from generation to generation and it can tell stories about so much. How it was the only thing they could eat during their time, or how they’ve met their other half. Lastly, baking can be healthy and therapeutic. Notice how baking can just ease that part of your mind. It’s because there’s something about the smell, or just measuring ingredients, which can instantly calm you down. It’s because you know you’re in charge and you’re happy. Baking is pretty healthy as well. Put the right ingredients and it can still taste sweet but not junky sweet, the healthy sweet. The benefits of baking are truly magical.

Break the fake II: 47 year old soup constantly cooking in Bangkok

Recently I came across an interesting video on Tik Tok about a soup in Bangkok. The video claims the soup had been cooking non-stop for 47 years. The video had many likes and views so I decided to look more into it.

  1. Here is the tik tok video.

2. Then I checked the account. The bio clearly shows it is not an official account. The username also did not have a blue check mark for verification.

3. I did a quick google search on it. None of these videos have a claim of it being fake.

4. I clicked on the first link. New York Posts backs up the tik tok videos claims. “The broth has been preserved and cooked for 45 years”

5. I did a final check on snopes.com. The soup gets removed from the pot and is cleaned.

To conclude the video about the 47 year old soup was real.
