How has COVID-19 affected mental health globally?

Covid-19 has affected many lives across the globe regarding mental health. For example, health care workers experienced a lot of psychological stress along with physical exhaustion because of the flooded waiting rooms full of covid patients. Work was becoming overwhelming. Psychologists announced that there had been an overall increase in clients during the pandemic. 41% of psychologists claimed that the number of clients was overwhelming and 46% of psychologists felt mentally burned out. Another example is my sister’s best friend. My sister’s best friend had covid during the start of the pandemic, and it took a big toll on her mental health. Her mental health started to deplete during covid when she experienced isolation and struggled to eat with covid. She could barely digest food without feeling sick or wanting to throw up. The feeling carried on even after she had covid as she still struggles to eat. She lost a lot of weight due to this and became very insecure about her body. Covid 19 has affected mental health in many ways, so I believe it is very important that workplaces bring more attention to mental health, and to use social media platforms to spread awareness of mental health and how to healthily cope after the effects of the pandemic.
