TOKTWD

On November 2nd I went to my mom’s work place for “Take your kid to work day”. My mom works at a school district she is a swis worker there which is a settlement worker. What she does is she usually looks over peoples documents and enrolled them into schools that matches their document. First we went to the school district where my mom mostly works at, then went to an elementary school, there I volunteered to be a helper in a grade 2/3 class. I helped out the kids colour Skeltons, cut out the parts, and attach the parts together to make a doll. They also coloured in a skeleton head that was made out of clay. My mom wanted to take me to a secondary school to show me around but it was too late by the time I was done with the elementary school, but I hope I can visit next time.

Here is a picture:

What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 2nd?

When my mom was having meeting with people I wasn’t allowed to listen because it includes private information, so what I heard was muffled voices. At the elementary school when I first arrived at the school I was hearing all the kids playing outside with their friends. In the class I heard the kids having fun drawing and having fun with each other. What I saw was I saw my mom’s office at the school district. I saw tables, chairs, rooms. I saw lots of my mom’s coworkers. At the school I saw little kids. The tables and chairs were very tiny. Crayons, pencils, paper. I saw cubbies which reminded me of elementary. I smelt the ink from crayons when the kids were drawing. When I was getting a tour in the school district I went in the kitchen and it smelt like toast. My mom’s coffee. What I felt mature when I was helping the kids. I felt welcomed everywhere because all the workers were very nice.

What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?

I would be motivated to attend work because of the kids. I like that idea of being able to put the kids to work and help them with things they’re struggling with.  I think it’s fun to go teach and have fun with the kids, because they’re very nice and funny. Also the workers there are very nice and welcoming so that would motivate me to attend work.

Thank you for reading this blog.
