On TOKTWD I went with my cousin to No Frills where he works as a general clerk. We started off our day with breakfast which consisted of eggs and hot chocolate. After we finished, we went to the workplace. He showed me the place and gave me a tour, he also showed me what he has to do like help people find certain things, arrange shelves, and store supplies. After he explained to me what he has to do, I gave him a hand. Lastly, we finished the shift. It was a fun and remarkable experience which taught me lots of things.

  1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 6th? Use details

I heard people talking and discussing things with each other. I saw a lot of things like people and different food products. For example, in the bakery section; I saw baked goods like cookies, and breads. In the vegetables and fruits section I saw fruits and vegetables like apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and more. I smelled many things like in the bakery section I smelled bread and cookies; in the vegetables and fruits section I smelled oranges and apples, and in the meat section, I smelled beef. I felt comfortable because the place is calm and nice. 

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work? Why?

What about the environment that would motivate me to wake up every day to attend work is people. I think it would be nice to help others if they needed help with finding something in the store or help just help the people working in the store organize things. 

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work? Why?

What about the work environment that would discourage me from waking up every day to attend work is how repetitive it could get. I think it would be boring to do the same thing over and over for days. I think I would enjoy working there in the first few days, but later on it would get boring. 

 

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit? Why?

One thing I found interesting about the workplace I visited is how people from different cultures and ages come to this place and work in this place. I find this interesting because the place doesn’t have one specific group of people from the same country and age working or visiting this place.

Block 4 Digital Literacy Assignment

1.Connecting Core Competencies

I chose creative thinking as my core competency because this assignment required me to use my creative mind to do well on it. The relation between the assignment and the core competency is that in order to make a nice slideshow, you need to think of creative ideas and choose a good template to show the ideas clearly.

2.Learning from Digital Tools

The digital tool that we used for this assignment was canva. I have never used canva before, but after I used it for this assignment, I realized that it was very useful. I always used PowerPoint for my assignments, but canva surprised me with how good it is. It’s very useful because it is very easy to use, and it is easy to make nice and organized designs.

3.Application in Other Courses

I think that this digital tool can be applied in many other courses to make presentations look nicer and more organized. I think that Canva can also be used to make slideshows or even write speeches since it is easy to use, and it will make the speech, presentation, or slideshow look neater than just making it on a Word Document or PowerPoint.
