Break the Fake Pt. 2 – Spiraling Village in Iran

While scrolling on X (formerly Twitter) , I found this picture showing Spiraling Village in Iran. I couldn’t really tell if this was true or false, so I decided to fact-check it.

 

STEP 1:

I started off by founding the original source of this picture on Instagram. The user had a blue checkmark, but since checkmarks can now be purchased, this doesn’t necessarily mean that is true.

STEP 2:

Next, I used Snopes.com to check if this picture was real or not and found out that it was fake and was actually AI-generated.

STEP 3:

Just to make sure, I double-checked by searching “Spiraling Village in Iran” on Google and Wikipedia, but I couldn’t find any other reliable sources that could confirm that it was fake.

In conclusion, I now know that this picture showing Spiraling Village in Iran is fake thanks to the search using fact-checking tools.
