On Take Our Kids Work Day, November 1st, I went to an organic tea room, called 8 corners with my friend’s mom. I took me 40 minutes to get there. When I got there, I started off by cleaning the washroom and sweeping the floor. And then, I helped with doing the dishes and cleaning the tables. At the end of the day, I helped to prepare for the upcoming Christmas festival event.
1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?
In my work environment, I could hear dishes, people talking, I could see people gathering and talking, a busy kitchen, and the nature outside the window. I could smell pizza and all sorts of desserts being baked and tea being made. Even in a busy situation, I felt calm and healed thanks to the nature and fresh air surrounding me.
2. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?
The fresh air of the deep forest and beautiful views of the mountains beyond the coast will motivate me to get up every morning and go to work.
3. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?
Because the location is deep in the forest, along a narrow road, with no public transportation and is 40 minutes away by car from my residence, it would be difficult to wake up every morning and attend work on time.
4. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit?
One interesting thing is that all the food, from sourdough sandwiches to green tea, is made with organic ingredients. I thought this was a place that not only considers the taste and visual beauty, but also the health of its customers through the freshness and nutrition of the ingredients.
