Take your kid to work day (Alternate Assignment)

Part 1

Similarities Differences
Hospital Lunch breaks, must work together, sometimes have a stressful work environment. Can’t visit if sick, masks and gloves are required, Calm work environment.
Police station Must parole around trying to find criminals, cannot search a person without consent, Dangerous work environment.
Restaurant Kitchen Chaotic lots of running around, must cook fast, and tense work environment.
Pharmacy Calm and collected, takes time, cannot give wrong drugs to people.

Part 2

The police station is a work environment that I would want to go to every day because of the action, the free time while not working on a case, and the amount of respect you get from the job. By the action I mean the different cases I would get to work on and do some negotiation with people. The second reason I would go there every day is that Cops get free time to just chit chat or do nothing when they don’t have a case to work on. Lastly, I like the way people treat you when you say that you are a cop or when they see that you’re a cop. These are all the reasons that I would become a cop or go to a police station every day.

Part 3

City Library

The city library feels very calm, I see a lot of books, it sounds very quiet, and it smells like new books. The library is very calm because everyone is quiet, everyone is minding their own business, and if people are talking with each other, they do it very respectfully and quietly. The library is filled with books, it has tons of different genres, and it has different learning activities, I also saw that the library had computers to use, and you have to login with your library card. The smell was very relaxing for some reason, and the overall ambiance was calming, and it was a wonderful place to take a nap.

Hospital Emergency Room

A hospital emergency room is awkward, I see white everywhere, I hear a lot of beeping coming from all the machines, and I smell nothing, the hospital has no smell. The room was very awkward, as everyone was on their phone and nurses were running around carrying a bunch of medical things. The hospital was white, like blinding white, it was hurting my eyes, and all the doctors and nurses also were wearing all white uniforms which just adds on to the pain. The beeping of all the machines was really distracting and for some reason I couldn’t smell anything. I think the overall atmosphere was pretty stressful and I wouldn’t want to work there.

Construction Site

The construction site’s terrain was rough with rocks everywhere, there was a lot of tripping hazards there, I heard drills and people hammering nails down, it smelt like liquid cement. I was so close to falling so many times because of all the equipment, rocks, nails, and ropes, the frame of the building was complete, and they were starting to make the walls. The sound of the drills and hammer was loud, but the smell of the construction site wasn’t horrible, it was alright, it smelt like rocks and liquid cement. The overall environment was dangerous and unsafe for any children because of the nails and racks on the ground.

Conclusion

I learned that each workplace is different, and I should choose based on what kind of environment I would like to go to every day. I also learned that depending on your work environment you can start having mental problems due to a toxic work environment and you can also be very happy and relaxed because of your workplace. If I wanted a relaxed workplace, I would be a cashier or a chiropractor and if I wanted a more dangerous or thrilling workplace then I would become a construction worker or a police officer. In conclusion, I think all workplaces are unique and have their own advantages and disadvantages.
