Connecting Core Competencies

In this assignment, I used my creative thinking skills by drawing a portrait of myself, carving it onto a piece of plastic, and then printing it successfully. I needed to think about how I wanted my print to turn out in the end, and I was able to achieve successful results. What I wanted was a clear appearance in the final product, and it turned out great.

Learning from Digital Tools

I learned how to use a platform called Canva to create a presentation that delivered my ideas for the assignment very well. Some of the benefits I found while using Canva were that it offers many different types of transitions depending on your preferences, as well as a variety of template options to choose from. When selecting a template, I liked how I could search for a theme I wanted, and Canva would provide me with many templates matching that theme. With a friend’s help, I learned how to get the embed code to paste my presentation into this post. There were not many challenges for me since Canva had clearly organized tools, and I did not need to use any complex editing features.

Application in Other Courses

I can use Canva in other courses when I need to create presentations. For example, in middle school, I had to make a PowerPoint presentation for social studies, where Canva could have been used. While PowerPoint did not include as many options as Canva, Canva provided a wide variety of designs and templates, making it hard to choose just one. Canva would be especially helpful if presentations require different types of designs, making them visually more appealing. Lastly, learning how to get an embed code was a very helpful skill for me, as it allowed me to display the presentation without requiring others to click on any links, making it more convenient.
