Core Competences 1 24/25

Communication

In communication, I felt I have communicated well to my classmates and peers. For example, if the teacher was doing a lecture, I would know how to relay the information to someone who didn’t really understand the information. When I talk to my peers, I can clearly speak to them, but I do need to ask more questions to the teacher whenever I don’t understand.

Creative Thinking

When I was creating my presentation for French class, I found that my creative thinking is not the best. I tend to ask others what I can do and it takes me a long time to find out what I should do for a presentation. Writing essays are hard for me because I don’t really know what I should write, I would get lost as I write an essay.

Critical Thinking

I solve puzzles fast as in if my teacher asked me a question I would be able to answer or solve his question, but I don’t always say the right thing, so  I should reflect before I say something. For example, in my French class, my teacher would ask many questions to the class and if you did not know the answer he would laugh for not paying attention.

Social Responsibility

I respect the rules of the school, I am kind with others and peers. I try my best to communicate and do my best in my studies. For example, when I was in an event for Christmas, I helped and I helped attract people to the Christmas event.

Positive and personal

Personal strengths is being physically strong. I am proud to be Chinese. I am good at mental math and that is what I am good at. For me, going to the gym is very rewarding, as I feel good in myself and I get a good pump in my muscles.

Social Awareness

I exercise at least 2 hours a day, I study/do homework at least 2 hours everyday and my daily schedule is fine. I can take care of my own mental self and communicate with others in a way so I am happy. For example, I finish school, go to the gym/sports then I go home study and then I sleep.

Self Assessment of the Core Competencies

How do you handle different perspectives than your own, or disagreements?

I listen to everyone’s perspectives, and I do not disagree with what people have to say. For example, if I did a project and someone had a different way of thinking I would accept what they would have to say.

What is the purpose of collaboration?

To be more social in life and be able to cooperate with others in situations like fixing a car or problem solving a puzzle. Being able to accept the differences between everyone in the world. Collaborating with others creates more ideas because one person does not have enough knowledge to create many ideas in other words more creativity. Working together makes the process of things more efficient as in sharing problems with one another. Also making friends while collaborating because you need to communicate with each other which makes people more closer.

What does effective group work look like?

Communication between people and talking to each other with respect and have some arguments about ideas so that they can create a great plan. They also do not exclude ideas and do not waste time on playing games. Effective group work looks like talking and actively working. Trust and respect among group members makes it easier to work together. When people trust each other, they feel more comfortable talking to one another, sharing ideas, and having say what they do not like. Respect for each other helps people elaborate more with their ideas.

How are you an active listener and speaker?

I am an ok active speaker, but I listen with all the respect I have. I am an ok active speaker because sometimes I cannot think of any connections for others’ ideas.

How do I make connections between my ideas and others’ ideas?

I listen to what people say and create suggestions for their ideas and I try to find some key words when they are talking then ask some questions about what they said.

I am an engaged listener and can consider other perspectives.

Coast Salish Art, Part 2

Thinking: My awareness of the Coast Salish Art in our community has changed. Before, I always think of Coast Salish Art have random shapes, but then I realize that Coast Salish Art does not add the shapes for no reason. The circle for example, is not just a simple circle, it has meaning. The circle represents the sun, the meaning for it is that it is the connection between things.

Risk of COVID-19 death in adults who received booster COVID-19 vaccinations in England

You would think that booster shots decrease the risk of COVID-19, but who knows. We will dive in the facts too see, if this is true.

Summary: A national investigation identified adults who remained at an increased risk of COVID-19 death after receiving a second dose booster. From what I saw a lot people showed statistics on the rise of people dying due to COVID-19 booster vaccinations, but they were not verified, so I didn’t know if it was true.
  3. My last source of information was to google it.

As I was looking through the information, I found that one of the sources had “.gov” so that proves that this information is True.

Assignment 3B: Writing a Post (TOKTWD) (As well pictures added on another post)

I went to work with my mom and I had to wake up early in the morning like how I wake up in the morning for school. My mom’s workshop was actually not that bad overall, but she made me carry stuff around, like sinks and tables. Her office in the workplace was pretty quiet, but some times it would get a little loud because there were people cutting stuff like tables and sanding stuff. What I did all day at my mom’s workplace was work on the work I had in school because there was a lot of school work I needed to do. My mom was working on paper work and planning stuff, like how she wants to arrange things. Overall not bad.
