Here is my reflection on my Communication, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Social Responsibility, Personal and Cultural Identity and Personal Awareness skills.
Communication |
Creative Thinking |
Critical Thinking |
In Math 9, I did a data analysis project, which was an excellent example of communication because…
Me and my partner were mostly working on the project at home, so we needed to be able to communicate easily online. So, we used discord to do voice chats and just simple messaging. I think being able to use applications like Discord to communicate is helpful for life, because when you are apart from someone and need to be able communicate with them, it is a very quick way to do so. Me and my partner ended up getting a good mark on the project.

In French 9, I did a continuation of the book “Les larmes noires”, which was an excellent example of creative thinking because…
It required me to be creative, whilst also keeping the story realistic. I had to give the main character a new name, make up new problems and even add new characters, all the while keeping it realistic and believable. I think that I did a good job on it, because the story makes sense in my mind, and my brother seems to think it is alright. Overall, I think I was very creative on that project and I definitely thought a lot about what would make sense and what wouldn’t

In Social Studies 9, I did a skit, which was an excellent example of critical thinking because…
At one point, we went out of line and lost where we were, but I managed to improvise and get our team back on track. I had very little time to think, but I managed to get the other people in the skit to catch on to what I was doing. In the end, we finished our skit without any major confusion or pauses, which I think was a very big success, considering that we were not as prepared as we should be.

Social Responsibility |
Personal and Cultural Identity |
Personal Awareness and Responsibility |
In all my classes, I do all my assignments and the homework I need to do, which was an excellent example of social responsibility because…
It shows that I have the discipline to do what is needed of me. If you don’t complete your assignments and do your homework, failing is real threat, and I really do not want to fail any of my classes, especially in grade 9. Also, homework is just an overall good thing for you, even though it does get frustrating and time consuming sometimes, you do learn from homework skills that are useful in life, like how to use various sites and applications. Assignments, especially research ones, make you more knowledgeable and usually you use some sort of application or website, which might be helpful in the future.

In French 9, I did an “About Me” project, which was an excellent example of personal identity because…
I presented about myself and my cultural identity to the class with a full understanding of my personal and cultural identity. I am a very small person, and sometimes it is intimidating to be around older and bigger people. That was also at the start of the semester, when I was still adjusting to my new classes and every class was stressful. I am confident about my identity and not ashamed of my roots.
|
In all my classes, I am responsible and aware, which was an excellent example of personal awareness and responsibility because…
I believe that I am generally a responsible and aware student and I think that I am good at being aware of and understanding the people around me and their emotions. I bring the supplies needed for my classes, I generally stay on top of my homework, I studies for my tests, and I finish my projects. I am a naturally empathetic person, so I can usually tell when someone is feeling down or if they are mad or angry and I can sometimes tell why, by listening to how they talk, what they look at and how they act. I also am very observative, so sometimes I catch parts of conversations that I am not supposed to unintentionally, which is maybe not the best skill, but sometimes I see my teacher’s expressions or the way they talk and can tell what they are talking about.

To this day, I believe I’ve shown that:
I can communicate with my classmates and with the teacher and when a group project comes up, I can collaborate with my partners, even if they are not my close friends. Also, I’m not afraid to speak in class and I think I participate fairly in class discussions. Take the Donkey and the Thieves project, I didn’t know my partners very well, but we managed to make a good presentation and we were able to communicate our ideas easily. I think this shows that I have good problem solving and collaboration skills.
I can accept different ideas from other people and calmly resolve the problem with no argument. For example, in the same project of The Thieves and The Donkey, some people in the group thought that one part of the story said something that it didn’t, but we were able to solve the problem and convince the others about what the story really said. Being able to calmly come to terms is a helpful skill in life.
I can recognize when someone is not feeling well or if they are well and when they might need help. I am responsible in the sense that I have the perseverance to keep pushing to reach my goals and that I will never stop working for myself and others. I am also curious, and I always like to learn more. For example, when I went on a school trip to Quebec in grade 8, I was one of the few kids that really enjoyed going to the museums or any of the trips that we made that the other kids found “boring”, and I really enjoyed my time there.
