Stars wars take place in a galaxy far, far away but just like in real life there are different sides. The first major side in the first trilogy that I will talk about is the Galactic Republic which is a democratic union that governs the galaxy. The Republic was governed by the galactic senate that was made up of elected officials from each of many systems and worlds. The Jedi Knights helped serve as protectors. The Galactic Republic also was in control of the clone army who helped the Galactic Republic fight in a war against the Separatist Council. The Separatists were made up of the leaders of wealthy and influential galactic trade groups. Count Dooku was a Sith lord organizing the Separatist alliance. The Separatist Council had an army of droids and warships. The Separatists were eventually destroyed by Vader. After order 66, where the clone army turned on the Jedi, the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic, who was secretly a Sith lord, turned the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire ruled solely by him. The Galactic Empire ruled the galaxy through fear, intimidation and tyranny. They kept order with a strong military force consisting of stormtroopers, spy technology and the planet-destroying space station called the Death Star. But the Galactic Empire was eventually destroyed by the Rebel Alliance. This was a rebellion against the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. The Rebellion worked for decades in secret to try to overthrow the Empire and restore democracy to the galaxy. The Rebellion was armed with ships like the X-wing, A-wing and B-wing fighters. They did restore democracy to the galaxy. That is all the major sides in Star Wars’ first trilogy.
