• What is the overall topic and the goal of your project?

the topic of my infographic is ocean pollution. my biggest goal is to spread awareness and show how much the pollution has gotten worse over the years.

• What sites did you use to collect your data and create the infographic and what did you learn about it?

these were my sites. i learnt mostly about the causes and sources of the pollution in the ocean and how much ocean pollution has increased in the past 20 years.

• How has the process of utilizing these sites impacted your understanding of how technology can change (or help) the world?

it shows us that all the information is at our hands and that we have to be sure that we find the real information and not the fake or incorrect info.

One of my interests is music, I love that there are so many things you can do with music. You can play an instrument, you can listen for fun, you can do therapy with music and enjoy it with other people. My personal favorites are listening to music for fun and enjoying it with other people like my family when we go to Ontario.  

Music therapy is something I have just learnt more about, it is a very helpful tool, from comforting elders to helping people with brain injuries and everything in between. Some goals for when you’re in-music therapy are to lower your stress levels, to create more productivity, help with memory loss, to help you become more comfortable in social environments, to help you feel more confident and to feel better in general. And more and more people are asking for music therapy targeting emotional well-being and mental health in general. 

When you play an instrument, you are working on increasing your cognitive abilities, your patience, and building confidence all at the same time. You are also using almost your whole brain, which improves motor skills.  

My last reason why I love music is because you can just listen for fun with family, friends, or all alone. I personally listen to music while doing everything I can get away with, I work out, run, read, do homework and much more while listening to my favorite artist or songs.  

In conclusion, I love music for many reasons including because of the amazing things that music therapy can do, the benefits of playing an instrument and being able to just listen to music and enjoy it.  

Canada set to waste 1 billion dollars’ worth of COVID-19 vaccines

Summary

Canada is set to dispose of 1 $ billion worth of COVID-19 vaccines, on top of tens of millions of other does that have already expired. The government ordered vaccines from many different companies early in the pandemic, but they ordered tens of millions more than Canada could possibly use. 50 million have been donated and 13.6 million of which would have expired shortly after being donated. 21.7 million have been identified as being donated but haven’t been. Only 15.3 million have been donated overseas.

I checked snopes.com for articles to compare to the one I had.

Step two

I searched up the name of my article with the word hoax and the only things that came up were supporting my article. There were multiple articles with similar names to mine with the same main ideas.

Step three

I tried TinEye but the link of the photo in the article would not register.

Step four

I searched the name of the newspaper and found other articles from them and also a Wikipedia page, so the newspaper is real.

Step five

In Wikipedia’s article, they say nothing about national post being unreliable and or a bad source for news.

Step six

There were multiple other articles with similar titles and similar themes.

For TYKTWD I went with my dad who works at the Burnaby fire department where they put on an event with all the parents and their kids.

What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 2nd?

When you first walk into the fire hall it smells like diesel trucks, stale smoke and cleaning products. You hear the busy mechanics working on trucks and the firefighters doing the morning chores and truck checks, though the day you will also hear the sirens and the trucks coming and going. You see all the different trucks and tools, since we got to help do truck checks we got to see the jaws of life and many other tools, and the firefighters doing their jobs. The feels there is support and like a team. They are like a family at the fire hall they will tease each other but will always care about and support each other. Since there were a lot of kids there, we also were supportive of each other and worked as a team.

What about the environment that would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?
As I said the fire hall is like a family, you don’t have to be friends with everyone, they may tease each other and joke, but they all support each other and treat each other well. Also, they will always work as a team to accomplish their goals. Those are a couple of reasons I would be motivated to wake up every day and work at the fire hall.
