What I’ve learned throughout DL

I believe that my digital knowledge and skills have improved. Some examples of this is the inkscape project for coast salish art, at first it was hard and frustrating to figure out the controls of inkscape but after some time I grew accustomed to it. Using snopes and others for fact-checking was new experience to me, I would usually just assume if many sites cover it it must be true/false. In conclusion, I’ve learned alot of new things from digital literacy.

My Paragraph vs AI-Generated Paragraph

My Paragraph

For the first part of this assignment, I chose to do Twitter as to how controversial I heard it could be and to how clueless. Most of those topics were intertwined with Elon Musk since he purchased Twitter last year. Some of my ideas just talked about how most rich people are bored and not sure what to purchase for fun, or how he purchased it for clout or personal benefit. Though I don’t use Twitter myself, I was able to make some connections like how it was already somewhat bad before and that it couldn’t get worse.

AI-Generated Paragraph

Twitter, the iconic microblogging platform, has revolutionized the way people communicate and share information online. With its character-limited format, Twitter encourages brevity and succinctness, prompting users to convey their thoughts concisely. It serves as a global hub for breaking news, trending topics, and discussions on virtually every subject imaginable. Twitter’s influence extends beyond individual users to shaping political discourse, driving social movements, and even impacting financial markets. Its real-time nature fosters immediacy, allowing users to engage in conversations with people from diverse backgrounds and geographical locations. Despite facing challenges such as managing misinformation and ensuring healthy discourse, Twitter remains a vital tool for connecting people and amplifying voices worldwide.

My experience using AI was fairly simple though I do believe it can be more complicated based on what topics you ask it.

I think the paragraph is semi-accurate but not as accurate to date due to chatgpt being limited to a certain year with it’s information.

This exercise did post some use to me, I might ask chatgpt to summarize articles.

Yes, these results were expected.

New ground breaking 1427 pp play on osu!

According to this reddit post, the play was set by mrekk: https://www.reddit.com/r/osugame/comments/19d69bl/mrekk_enter_shikari_rat_race_themefistos_extra/

Looking at the comments of the post, we can tell that mrekk is known for doing many plays like so. We also use some key info points to find more information about the play.

We also check google for maybe some insight, where we find videos that have already documented about it.

Finally, we check his osu profile which was linked in the Reddit comments by the bot. Which seemed to return our results and conclude the research.

My judgement is that all this information is true, and mrekk really did place this play with a outstanding 1427 pp. Thank you for taking you time on reading this blog post.

Take your kids to work day

For take your kids to work days, I went to BCHydro. They had a dedicated event setup for the occasion, with educational yet fun activities to do. Some activities ranging from an egg drop to a IT showcase. Overall, I had a fun time and made friends with distant people that I don’t see on a daily basis.

  1. What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?

I heard people discussing, saw people working, smelled clean air surprisingly and felt interested in this job.

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?

The benefits of working at BC Hydro and the people I would meet.

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?

The distance it would take to get there, since the office was far away.

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit?

How much the company provides to each of their workers for working for them.
