my capstone was me modifying my car
2010 genes coupe
I bought my car in august and since the day I got it I have been modifying it every week or working on it every week
my fist modifications was this body kit I got. it was a bit tricky with the fitment so I went back to the drawing board and made a couple of solutions using Bondo and chicken wire and paint and it worked out very good and fits like a glove
then next thing I did was a very deep Clean and then started to remove the old tint that was peeling that turned purple. it was originally black but when you have non ceramic tint it starts to purple in the uv rays and kinda fades it so I removed that and put in a mirror tint and also re finished the headlight around that same time with some compounds but I didn’t like how they looked so I re finished them with a much more time consuming process
I sanded the headlights from 400 grit to 1200 and then cleaned them and hit them with a 2k clear coat acrylic
this gave them a very nice finish and shine
there were a few issues with fitting the body kit at the beginning but I got it In a nice spot now that took a bit of time and I also had to remove my front crash bar
I had to take off a lot of side pieces from the old b=front and back bumper to fit the new ones
then I switched out the old halogen head lights for new LED ones that are much much nicer and cleaner to the cars look
after all the body work I hit the inside of the hood with a white enamel paint because the inside of the old looked horrible then I hit the outside of the hood and the front fenders with primer because of the body fitment for the body kit and as well as the body kit its self then I started to wrap it silver and I had also got new rims some intermilano sports with dunlop winter tyres for the winter
they had the wrong off set but the size I wanted and very cheap as well so I got them but ten I had to buy spacers for them and the spacers fit the rim just fine but not the hub to I had to go to a machine shop for the spacers to get bored and I had also gotten a wing for my car when I got the tyres and iv just painted the base for it at the moment
and about last week I removed the headliner and antenna to wrap the roof
but the headliner I removed because my sunroof switch isn’t working or the motor still working on that but now that I have the headliner out im thinking about painting it black or dying it then putting some stars in the headliner like ow rolles royces have or at this point I won’t make the interior any nicer and just buy more parts for the engine bay all I have in there now us a cold air intake and Im on springs for suspension just to Lower the car and I have like negative 2-3 percent camber witch is nice cuz the car stays planted to the ground on tight sharp turns
I also got spec d headlights a lot of people get spec d taillights but I wasn’t too interested so I just kept the old ones
but instead of seeing any more money on the inside or outside cuz the outside looks nice now ll juts probably buy a kit or maybe save for a engine swap cuz these motor are know to blow bottom ends like crank casing or spin bearings and then you get a nice bottom end knock but ill see they also crack blocks sometimes and there trannys aunt the strongest for higher power to I would have to get a new clutch and clutch disc
but there a guy I know that is selling a haltech eco and eco VIII turbo with the log manifold and new 500 injectors with a nice mishimoto intercooler he was saying he would give it for 2000$ but I’ll see
I mean that’s a really good price and the eco alone is like 1500
so idk but he was saying the eco already has 2 tunes and he was wiring his car up for meth injections and he was telling me he was pushing 450-500 hp and with the meth he would be looking at like 530-570 with a new tune as well witch is not the best for this 2.0l turbo car. stock from factory is about 200 max
well anyway he blew his motor
but apart from that I want to make a underbelly trey to keep the aero at its best and make som canards for the front out of some 10 gauge rolled aluminum and make a 8 gauge front splitter and back defuser with vents to cool off engine bay and back brakes and I have removed the exaught at the moment and I have made the splitter and canards out of cardboard and diffuser so I will take it to a metal shop soon when I get my next pay check and apply get that built
now just the thing with the engine
I have a 2010 genesis coupe
witch has a 2.0L turbo engine inline 4, it RWD and its super fun. now I have found a 2003 2JZ-GE on market place from a IS300 Lexus, this engine is a inline 6 very reliable good with power. the only thing is its VVT-I and with this variable valve timing system in it it can start to fail around the 200K mark and this engines is at 200k I could switch out some components
the things is this engine is 600$ and for a new bell housing adapter and the full swap and new intake cuz the IS intake are ugly and Ill just get a proper supra one plus the motor mount adapter that need to be machined from a inc out of billet aluminium it will be looking around 1500-2000$ and that’s around the same price as the turbo kit
and this swap is just no turbo also so it would just be stock engine with can be tuned to around 400-450 safely stock
and If I put the turbo im looking at 3.5k $ with the engine and everything else included with is like half the price of my car so I don’t know what I should do
but I will keep thinking of a way I can improve the build and work on expanding the idea
