CC self reflection

Communication

In French, I did a group book discussion about the book “Où est ma maison”, this was an excellent example of communication because it made everyone in the group discuss their own opinions on the book. Personally, I enjoyed the assignment because I really liked the book, and I could make many links to my own life with it, which was enjoyable when I could talk about it with others. Another reason why I liked it is because it helped me understand the book more when I got other people’s view on it and communicated their feelings about what was happening.

Creative thinking

In woodworking I made a wooden car, which was a great example of creative thinking because it gave everyone the ability to choose how they wanted to make it. My teacher also allowed a lot of freedom when making it and gave instruction only when we asked for it. I think this was good exercise because it made people think before they did something to make sure they liked the final product. We could also drive the cars after they were done, which made the assignment worth something when we finished it rather than a good grade.

Creative thinking

In communications, I did a travel agent project, which was an excellent example of creative thinking because it allowed me and my group to choose our own country and research how to plan a vacation there. I think this was a good exercise and assignment for us because it touched a bunch of aspects that people should think of when booking a trip somewhere, for example, a outing that would help the people and culture in the country for the better. It also gave us the chance to learn about money management when travelling.

Information Fluency Paragraph – Hypercars

My paragraph

Legendary automotive writer LJK Setright is the man who made the term “supercar”. He was writing about the Lamborghini Miura in 1966, the first road car to go mid-engined, prompting Ferrari Enzo. Those numbers have been firmly overshadowed by plenty of the newer generation of cars. Nowadays the term “supercar” has transformed into “hypercars” simply because “super” isn’t enough. This term began when ferrari made the f1 car for Lemans and won. This hatched the idea to many other racecar companies, and pushed them to turn the super racecars into road legal vehicles. Now as we know it today supercars are commonly found as very fast, hypercars however, are the cars that push the limits.

AI generated paragraph

Hypercars represent the zenith of automotive engineering, pushing the boundaries of speed, technology, and design to unprecedented levels. What sets hypercars apart from their supercar counterparts is not merely their raw power or aerodynamics but rather their pursuit of absolute performance excellence. These elite machines often incorporate cutting-edge materials such as carbon fiber and advanced hybrid powertrains, resulting in mind-bending acceleration and top speeds that defy conventional limits. Moreover, hypercars are typically produced in extremely limited numbers, with meticulous attention to detail and customization, elevating them to the realm of automotive art. While supercars excel in their own right, hypercars transcend this, embodying the pinnacle of automotive innovation and setting new benchmarks for performance enthusiasts worldwide.

  • What was your experience in using AI?

My experience was not too surprising as I have used it before and got the results that were somewhat expected from AI. It was easy to use and quick to get a response.

  • Was the paragraph the AI generated accurate? Fact-check any new information and see if it’s true.

From fact checking its knowledge it was in fact correct, however my subject isn’t something that has a lot of false information about.

  • Was the exercise useful? How can this help you with your learning going forward?

I feel like this activity was useful because it used a bit of my creative side and also taught me something new. I also enjoyed writing my paragraph because I got to use the grammar I was taught in English class.

  • Were your results expected? Yes or No? Explain.

The results I got were somewhat expected and it accurately got the subject but had a different approach.

Break the Fake 2 – Did Elon musk really say Neuralink is being used on humans?

A post that caught my eye on CNN’s Breaking news was that Elon musk finally got his Neuralink in an actual human brain. I thought to myself, is this real? Since the promises made by Elon himself were very ahead of our time and unbelievable, allowing people who have lost the use of their limbs to be able to move them, I thought it was fake, let’s find out.

With no acknowledgement from fact checking source, it leads me to believe that this story is real because no one doubts it and also since many reliable news sources like CBC and The Washington Post confirm Elon Musk’s word, I can conclude that his message was said; however, we can only rely on the company’s word, furthermore some fact-checker sources like Snopes have not caught up with this story, so it isn’t confirmed whether the Neuralink is in a human’s brain other than what Elon musk has said.

Conclusion

To wrap everything up, it is true that Elon Musk did say that his Neuralink Chip is being used on human brains, however no proof was released, so it’s up to you whether to believe him or not, but all we know is Elon’s word.

Take your kids to work day

For take your kids to work day, my mom and I went to North Vancouver in order to get to an Apartment complex in which housed one of my mom’s clients. To start the day off she contacted the templater and tiler to figure out how much tile was needed and where they would be put. After we went to a house in surrey to measure and find out how the kitchen was going to look with new tiles.

What did you hear, see, smell, and feel in the work environment on Nov. 1st?

At my mom’s workplace, I smelt drywall, felt cold, and saw contractors and scalers around an apartment. I found this cool because it was very different from my house and seeing how one was built is interesting to me.

  1. What about the environment would motivate you to wake up every day to attend work?

The views that my mom and I got to see were very astonishing, and waking up to go to work with a beautiful sunrise is something that would motivate me to wake up.

  1. What about the work environment would discourage you from waking up every day to attend work?

There was a lot of standing around waiting for contractors to finish taking notes. This is discouraging because it feels like I would be wasting time almost every day waiting for someone else to do their job so I could start mine.

  1. What is ONE thing you found interesting about your workplace visit?

One thing I found interesting is the number of steps used to build a house. This is interesting because I thought a house took a year to make and that was it but never really understood how it was being done.
