Why are medical errors the third leading cause of death in Canada

My goal for the topic I chose was to show how you should always double check what you do in a hospital since one of the highest causes of deaths is medical errors. I think people should be more aware about what happens to them self-hospital hospitals and medical scenarios. My goal was to research medical errors and understand why so many medical errors are made per year. I concluded that medical errors are very common because the doctors are overworked, they have messy handwriting and many more. Doctors are not at fault for this but there are things that can be fixed.

I used many different sites such as different medical sites, articles written by doctors, ABC new and many more. I used many different sites to make sure that the information was correct. I learned that there are many different sources that you can get information from. I learned that medical errors have been a leading cause of death for a while. Medical errors are far too common and happen too often. There are many doctors that have accidentally left tools, sponges etc. In their patients body. I learned that there are many different ways for medical errors to occur. I used Canva to create my infographic and it was very easy to use. I used that you can get information for a variety of places but that you should always double check your information.

Many websites were very detailed and went into a lot of depth when explaining their point. There were some websites that were easy to read while others were more difficult. When wanting to do research on a topic it is very easy to search and get your results. I think technology is very helpful to the world because it can help people understand different topics and the websites are open to everyone. Sites with pictures were more intriguing and easier to understand. Technology can be very useful as long as you know it is true. I was able to get a better understanding and went into depth by searching my topic online.

Information Fluency – Identifying as transgender

You might be wondering why I chose this topic. Well, there isn’t a straightforward response. I chose it because there are a lot of cases where people don’t understand or accept this. There was one shooting in Nashville where the shooting was transgender and wasn’t accepted in their religion. Audrey Hale, the assailant, shot and killed 6 people at an elementary school.

There are many statistics that say the number of identifying as trans has nearly doubled in recent years. They say that students are identifying as trans because of peer pressure and/or because of the influence of social media. There was an article that stated something along the lines ofthere are people being encouraged to identify as transgender among those who are not transgender”. In “Gender Expectations: Trans identity in teens considered as a social contagion.” there is a part of it that states “people are identifying as transgender, but it can be confused with underlying mental health conditions”. Some people that are transgender will experience gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is when they have phycological distress about their gender. 18% of the 375 patients with gender dysphoria were nonbinary. Over half were assigned male at birth but prefer the pronouns they/them. Some articles said that teens are identifying as trans because of the influence from people around them. There were many incidents were males identified themselves as female and participated in competitions. Avi Silverberg identified as a female and participated in the women’s bench press competition. He beat the record by a couple of 100 pounds. The previous person that held the records was a transgender person that had beat and dominated the past 8 competitions that they joined as a woman. This shows that transgender polices harm female athletes. Many people might disagree with me, but I think the people that are identifying as transgender should participate in a different group if they are going to compete in competitions. I am not trying to discriminate but I think it isn’t fair for the females. They could also change the policies.

BREAK THE FAKE- cocaine bear

  1. I found this post on Instagram. I want to see if the story is true. it says that it is based on a true story but I don’t know if I can believe that.
  2. I went to both pubity and memezar and they both blue check marks and a lot of followers which makes them kind of trust worthy.

They both have many different post about different events.

3. But… when I searched on Wikipedia for both of the accounts, there were no results. That doesn’t mean it is fake.

When I searched “cocaine bear” an entire article came up.

4. After searching on snopes.com, I found out that the story is true.

5. After double checking on different websites. I found out that the story about the cocaine bear is true.
