Self Assessment

Communication:

In my course of Communications, I did my assignment of Pecha Kucha, which was an excellent example of communication because I demonstrated that I could speak for long periods of time on a subject that I am well versed on, without a script. Our Pecha Kucha projects were projects where we have a week to research a topic that we are passionate about and form a complex question about it. For example, mine was “Should the death penalty be abolished.” You must talk for 20 seconds per slide (without a script), with 15-20 slides depending on your grade. I was proud of how I could research a subject and become so comfortable and versed about it to be able to talk about it for a long period of time with no script or cue cards.

Creative thinking:

In my course of Science, I did a project of “Mitosis Stop-Motion” which was an excellent example of creative thinking because I demonstrated that I could think outside of the box and be creative with my resources. The “Mitosis Stop-Motion” project was a project where we were given resources such as clay, paper, pipe cleaners, and beads and we had to make an animation in the form of a stop-motion of the process of Mitosis. I used clay to form a circle which was my “cell” and pipe cleaners as the “outer shell.” I took many pictures of each frame to create my animation. I was proud of how the video turned out and proud of my hard work. Here is a picture of my “cell.”

Personal awareness and responsibility:

In my course of English, I got an extending which was an excellent example of personal responsibility because I demonstrated my work ethic and my understanding of all the materials in class. One of my favourite assignments that we did that I feel demonstrated my understanding were the “In class writes” we did. This was an assignment we would do after reading a book or watching a movie to prove that you understood. We would get a big paper and must write a mini essay on the topic sentence that we were given by our teacher. My favourite “In class write” was the one that we did about a short story we read in class called “Barney.” It was about a rat who was being experimented on by scientists. I ended up getting an “Extending” on that assignment which made me very proud.
