Earthquakes and how they are dangerous in our world.

What is the overall topic and the goal of your project?

The overall topic of my project describes how serious earthquakes are in our world. The goal of the project is that the readers can understand the impact of earthquakes in our world. Not just they must understand the magnitude, but also must understand the deaths because of how serious the earthquakes are.

What sites did you use to collect your data and create the infographic and what did you learn about it?

The 3 sites (listed on the bottom of my infographic) were Ocean Networks, Al Jazeera news, and Math and You. After using those sites, I understood that earthquakes in our world are serious. According to my data, their magnitude are from 6-8 which is very serious and can cause many impacts like destroyed communities. Also, I used types of data that works best for the infographic.

How has the process of utilizing these sites impacted your understanding of how technology can change (or help) the world?

Those sites impacted my understanding. When I first heard about earthquakes, I didn’t know much. After doing a project on a news article, I chose the Turkey-Syria earthquake. After that project, I learned that not just the magnitude that affected the countries, but it destroyed plenty of things like houses and buildings and caused many deaths. Also the other sites impacted my understanding because of the magnitude level. I learned that higher the magnitude, the more serious the earthquake is.

Piano as my Passion

My passion that I love the most is playing piano. I started piano since I was in the 1st grade. Well, as you know, I started with the basics. I felt frustrated at first since it was so hard. Over time, my fingers started to get used to get used on the keys. Every 6 months, I get a concert. The good news is that they’re fun and that I can finally dress formally. The bad news is that it’s far from Coquitlam. Normally, my concerts are at West Vancouver, Vancouver, or Burnaby. During concerts, there is a certain sequence when people perform onstage with a grand piano. The sequence is based on your piano level. For example, if you’re a beginner, you get to be the first ones to play. If you’re intermediate like level 5, you get to be in the middle to perform. If you’re advanced like level 9 or 10, you get to be the last ones. Since I’m level 10, I have to play as the last ones. At least I have an advantage since I can think about my piece before I perform. When I’m onstage, I get stage fright. But I remember not to look at the audience. It’s not only concerts, but I have to take exams. I already done two exams: One for level 5 and one for level 8. To pass an exam, the person must get at least 60 marks. Exams are really hard. I have to play my pieces well and do sight reading.

Break the Fake – Researchers discover two new minerals on meteorite grounded in Somalia.

  1.  Here is a Twitter Post that I’ve found. I am going to check if there are actually 2 new minerals grounded in Somalia.

2. First, I went to the source “Science” but it doesn’t have a blue check mark beside its name.

3. Second, I copied the image address for the photo and went to tineye.com and pasted the image address. There are 52 search results, so this article is likely to be real. Of all the 52 results that I’ve checked they are all found on Nov 29 2022, so therefore they are all the oldest.

4. Third, I did a Google Search for the article and I clicked the news section. It showed 1 result which has the website “The Guardian.”

This website is real because on the bottom of the story, it has a “Contact us” area which are the 4 social media buttons that you can contact them.

5. I also did a search on Snopes.com but it doesn’t contain the info I searched up.

6. Finally, I double-checked other reliable sources for this Twitter post. In conclusion, this post is real.
