Information Fluency Topic – Piano

I chose the piano for this assignment because of its musicality, the fact I have one, the pieces you can perform on it, and many more reasons. but among these is the impact piano has had on me, and that’s why I’m writing about it to you today. I may be slightly biased here, but I believe piano is an underestimated instrument for the level of prowess and effort it takes to transform your notes into something from majestic to sorrowful. In my notes many esteemed pianists state these same points about how the true potential of this instrument is somewhat undiscovered to those who haven’t experimented with it. When I was in grade six I began to learn the piano, my instructor a kind but encouraging woman named Karen helped me to start learning. I didn’t understand much about piano at the time but I stuck with it, and it’s a good thing I did because a few years later I’ve learned so much more. Piano is an immersive instrument with tons of skills and pieces to accomplish and learn like the 1812 Overture, or Liebestraum. There is thousands upon thousands of pieces of varying skill degrees for everyone to learn, and I’ve barely started to explore some of them. Overall piano has been an important part of my life, and that’s why it’s my topic.
